23.5 reasons for the season.

In my email yesterday there was spam with the subject line "Don't go round the bend." Its arrival was timely, and gave me a sorely needed laugh at its appropriateness to the last few weeks.

For the first time in far too many years, I have a smidge of love and even enthusiasm in my heart for the holiday season, so I am thumbing my nose at the universe's recent campaign to grinch me out. Tonight I will go home and write cards, wrap gifts, and maybe bake some cookies. I will remember the people I love, and who love me, those who are here and those who are gone, and I will light a candle for me and for them on this longest night of the year. And I will celebrate that it only gets brighter from here on in.

Love and light to one and all on this winter Solstice.
