Not allowed out without proper supervision.

I just burned two toes with my lunch. While stirring my straight-from-the-microwave cheddar brocolli potatoes Lean Cuisine, I slopped a big forkful out of the container and onto my open-toe-sandal-clad foot. I managed to refrain from saying "Fuck" very loudly and instead hopped around on one foot, kicking the other and flinging bits of broccoli and cheddar cheese about the office kitchen.

Cue segue.

In a mild obessive-compulsive fit, I tagged my entire lj over the last week or so. I'm pleased to note that despite a marked decline in the number of quizzes and memes, and a marked increase in posts about my cat and moments of personal humiliation (see above), this journal is still emphatically dorktastic in its scope.

And, because it seems quite appropriate at this juncture, here are my answers to the dork meme, last seen with amilyn.

List 5 reasons why you are a dork. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud about how big of a dork you are!

1) Stargate fandom. The mocking, the licking, the smooching, the squee. Need I say more?

2) The Galactic-Free-For-All, a.k.a Item 16. Back in college we had a what ended up a cooperative fan fiction multiverse on the gaming computer conference. Multiple storylines evolved and interconnected over the span of about three years, incorporating original and canon characters set in science fiction universes from Star Trek, Star Wars, Hitchhikers Guide, Battlefield Earth, and many more. There was a fantasy version too, but the GFFA was where it was at. 200+ posts in an afternoon was not uncommon, and we'd all sit around in the computer lab and respond back and forth for hours.

3) Tangental to the GFFA, I started writing Trek fanfic when I was fourteen, creating my own ship and characters in the Trek universe. I later used the ship in the GFFA, and still maintain a site for the small bit of fic I actually finished, and I've started revising the grand 22,000 word epic that I started at 14 and finished three years ago. It's horrific, but an interesting look at the evolution of my writing.

4) Gaming. But not just the gaming. I did massive amounts of worldbuilding for five different campaigns I ran (one of which was abandoned before it ever started, two died out early on, and two ran for over a year each). And I've created and maintained comprehensive websites for almost every character I've played since I learned HTML, and for every game I ran. Come to think of it, my habit of creating webpages for everything I do is pretty dorky.

5) My favorite comeback to use when I was in high school? "Die immediately and decay," instead of "Live long and prosper."
