Well, I wrote this from the idea that this is Sam and Jack a few years down the road, where they'd been in a relationship and worked out a lot of their issues. So yeah, it does read very differently than how they are on the show. But then, I write an extrapolation of what I see on the screen, and I actually like a lot of how they are written on the show (and I am not one of thepeople who looks at them and sees the Twue Luv. I see the potential for a romantic relationship, but I don't agree with many shippers who think that they're in love right now). It makes sense to me for their relationship (that being their professional relationship, their friendship and the romantic/sexual attraction). But I also think that AT and RDA have oodles of chemistry that fills in a lot of the white space in the narrative of their relationship(s). But then again, I like that Stargate has so much empty narrative space for the fans to play in.
Sama and Jack are written very differently than Jack and Daniel are (I don't think it's an issue of better or not, but that's me), but they should be. It's a very different relationship structure, considering gender, background, profession, etc. I willingly admit they've gotten a little heavy-handed with the more romatic aspects in the last two seasons, moreso than I'd prefer (because I liked the subtle ship), but I think aspects of all the teams' various relationships and interactions have become more overt and explicit over the last few seasons (look especially at Sam and Teal'c, Sam and Daniel, and Jack and Teal'c - we've seen so much more evidence and expression of their relationships since S6).
And I am a master at twisting onscreen canon to suit the canon in my head, so it's not hard for Jack and Sam to make sense to me with some judiciously applied wanking. :)

And now I shall shut up. :)
