Jim

I know McCoy is on shift right now. Meet me in our old spot by the engines?

-Uhura

She had typed Captain and then erased it. Better to strike a casual tone, evoke some of the camaraderie they had shared before as co-conspirators. "The good old days," she murmurred to herself with a cruel twist of her lips. "These new days are better." That ( Read more... )

It was starting. And Kirk felt that little edge of anticipation in his gut, the one that said he was going to do great things, if he could reach far enough without falling ( ... )

Chekov had, of course, agreed to her request and now he shadowed her, watchful, as they walked at a fast clip - Uhura was always purposeful in her movements but she wanted to be there before Kirk. They had met there before, many times, but she'd barred Scotty from the area and it would be smart to examine the boundaries for any tampering ( ... )

Pavel knew the look of an alcohol bomb better than any man on the Enterprise. He really would have to drop by, say hello to Mister Scott and placate the man. Whatever Kirk had said to him had him riled up, and he was very dangerous riled.

The doors shifted, at least with the little things in them, rather than closed. Pavel moved out of the way, found a corner with a nice view and sat back in the shadows.

He was slow, but not as slow as he might have feared, once. It would come back. It all would.

Well. Almost.

But he wasn't going to think about that now. There was no way anyone could tell, just by looking at him. And they had plenty to look at anyway, what with the leanness and the lank hair. He got some looks, certainly, but it seemed his glare was stronger than he felt, and no one gave him any shit. Hell, he'd seen the wrath of Pike, been sequestered in McCoy's sickbay for longer than anyone he could think of, and survived. That had to give him some cred, even if how he'd gotten there didn't.

And even that might be useful.

He frowned slightly at the blackened walls, and like the others, immediately thought of Scotty. What was wrong with everyone on this goddamned ship, he wondered.

The doors shifted again to admit him, and knowing what he did, he could detect the difference. The humming was fucking creepy but so, then, was Uhura's smile. And the immediate sense Kirk got that they weren't alone.
