So, I'm updating, partially because I have a hourish break from the craziness that is this week, and partially because I don't want to use this break to do actually work.
Anyway, I registered for next semester on Monday. This is what it's looking like:
Mondays: no classes! Hillel board meeting, probably work (@TSR) in the afternoon.
Tuesday: 10:30-11:45AM: US FOREIGN POLICY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
12:00-1:15PM: PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY
1:30-2:45PM: WESTERN POLITICAL THOUGHT II
Wednesday: Interning all day -- I have to figure out which internship to do! Both are with Mary Fifield, this amazing political communications consultant. One would be actually with her as a consultant - she works out of her house and I would work with her (she does consulting for places like the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, the Somerville anti-Divestment campaign, etc.) The other option is with the Massachusetts Women's Political Caucus, which is a multipartisan PAC/organization that works to elect pro-choice women to office - Mary Fifield is President of the MWPC. I could work in either the Media/PR department or the Political/Campaigns department. Help me decide!!!!
Thursday: 10:30-11:45AM: US FOREIGN POLICY IN THE MIDDLE EAST
12:00-1:15PM: PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY
1:30-2:45PM: WESTERN POLITICAL THOUGHT II
Friday: Interning a little (probably morning-early afternoon).
So that's what next semester's shaping up to be. In addition to all that, there will obviously be tons of Hillel and FOI and Tour Guiding and all that other crazy time-consuming stuff I overcommit myself to. Plus, I'll be taking my internship for credit (possibly 2 credits - one with Poli-Sci and one with Communications).
Oh, and last night I chilled with Paul Rusesabagina! He's the hotel manager that the movie Hotel Rwanda is based on - he's one of hte most incredible individuals in the world. He saved hundreds of Rwandans during hte Rwanda genocide by sheltering them in his hotel, risking his own life. I'm on the Moral Voices on Genocide Committee (Hillel) that brought him. There will also be tons of programming next semester - film screenings, discussions wit h the film's producers, panels, Holocaust Commemoration Week, etc. The Merrins, the family that sponsored this initiative, were at the text study/dinner/lecture with Paul last night, and I got to be their personal escort for the evening - overall, a pretty awesome night. I got to chat with Paul one-on-one a lot, which was incredible.
Aaaanddddd that's it I think. Harry Potter comess out tomorrow night!! Sara, Hannah, Amanda and I are going to the midnight screening - our lives are really that exciting. Ummm, and I'll be home on Tuesday until Sunday for Thanksgiving festivities.
Oh! And Winter Break! I forgot about that - it'll be CRAZY. This is the schedule:
Dec. 19th - Home
Dec. 23rd - Fly to Miami w/ the family, leave on cruise
Dec. 23-28th: Cruise -- Key West, 2 Days at Sea, Aruba....
Dec. 28th: Fly to NY from Aruba (just me - the rest of my family will stay on the cruise for 5ish more days)
Jan. 1st: LEAVE FOR ISRAEL!!!!!!!!
Jan. 1-12: Birthright!! We have a full bus of 40 of all Tufts people.
Jan. ??: Come back to NY from Israel (I'm not sure how long I'll extend my stay in Israel after Birthright is over)
Jan. 18th: Back to Tufts
So yea, things will definitely be crazy. But I'm excited...SOOOO EXCITED.
Ok, that's it.
