The sun shone down upon me on the bright and beautiful day. It was a very warm day so I decided to strip the jeep down and let the winds blow through my hair. Fumbling through the stations, I finally landed on the tunes from my past and I bee bopped on down the highway to visit you.
I parked on the side of the road next to a rose bush, so I grabbed the best one and placed it behind my ear. It took me a moment to find you, but when I did I sat down and made myself comfortable. As I leaned back and let the sun warm my face, I told you how my day had been.
"Today was like many days before. I did what needed to be done so I could do what I wanted to do."
Reminiscing over times gone past and how you always could make me smile led to how happy I am now with the life I can finally honestly live.
The conversation must have lasted for hours before my phone rang to remind me I needed to get home.
I did not want to leave you but the conversations were all but done. All the topics were covered, from religion to marriage to jobs and kids. I really had nothing left to say.
So I stood up and brushed off the butt from where I sat, removed the flower from behind my ear and rested it upon your gravestone and said my goodbyes.
I've not been back since... but I think a lot about you and miss you deeply.
*sigh*
...............for my aunt dodoe and ma'maw johnson, I miss you both so
