Last year, when I had no idea I'd be going to school in California, I got a bank account with Wachovia. Fast-forward to last September. I opened an account with Washington Mutual so I could have access to ATMs without paying fees to get at my money. So far, it's been working well - my parents deposit money into the Wachovia account at home, and I transfer it online to my WaMu account so I can withdraw it from their ATMs.
Well, last week I set up another transfer because I was getting low on funds in the WaMu account. It was scheduled to post to my account today, and should have, except that some computer somewhere in the middle of it barfed and my scheduled transfer disappeared. Fortunately, the money is still in the Wachovia account. But at this point I'm pissed off that it took me a forty-five minute phone call to get the same information from a telephone rep that I got from my online banking page: nobody knows where the transfer went or why it disappeared.
Great. Now I can't get at my money without paying for it until I go through the whole transfer thing again, which takes a good four or five days.
...strike that! WaMu's site now says that the transfer has been submitted. But it hasn't shown up on my checking account's transaction list and my balance is still $4.95. Sigh.
