Stupid Reason to be Mad at Me, a VEGAN!!!spite_the_worldMarch 17 2006, 04:16:36 UTC
Your big useless paragraph is, as predicted, the same argument you always have. First I might point out that you KNOW by now we don't have freedom in America. We have limited freedom of a limited amount of CHOICES. Secondly, OF COURSE animals wouldn't turn to society for support. What, do you think you're so much better than the animals that they can't get along without you? A housecat can still catch a mouse. A dog still knows how to chase and kill. Cows still know how to graze--and although many cattle will probably die off, this is better than killing them in a factory farm, WHICH, by the way, RAISES ANIMALS IN CAGES. Anyway, about introducing a new species to an environment changing the ecosystem--this has happened MANY TIMES throughout the evolution of species for MILLIONS OF YEARS. Some species may become endangered, but seeing as domesticated animals are raised in North American climate, and assuming they'd be released here, I don't think the change would be drastic. The cows would probably end up where the buffalo used to be--the great plains. Yeah, a lot of them would get killed by coyotes or wolves, but this would only encourage evolution. Nothing like your releasing-lions-in-the-Sierras argument, which was unnecessary and retarded.
There is more than enough food for all the humans and animals on the planet. The problem (due to capitalism) is access. Animals do fine--where they can't find food, they roam. Again, even domesticated animals know how to get their own food. They are not as dependent as you wish they were. Nice job inventing Timmy for pathos. If Timmy really loves his puppy, he will let it roam free, unless he's a selfish bastard who needs to learn to let go of those he loves.
Wait...wait...just cause cows aren't being eaten BY HUMANS, they're decaying? Oh shit! I better change my views on animal rights! You're so right! NOTHING besides humans eat cows! Not wolves, not coyotes, nothing! God forbid the cow population go back down to wear it should be! I mean, I know there were only 8 million cows in early America, and 25 million by the 1950s, but damn it, we always have more room in the ozone layer for overbred cows' flatulence so I can FATTEN UP at the expense of their lives!
And Americans are NOT impoverished. There are homeless people, but there is also Food Not Bombs, which is vegan, in several cities per state. Also, it costs exponentially more to raise livestock to be eaten than it takes to eat the crops and fruits that we grow. Malthus writes about this in Principle of Population. Please read that. Also, you don't NEED all the protein that comes from meat! Unless you work out for THIRTY SOLID MINUTES every time you eat meat (or have an obscenely high metabolism), all that extra protein is going STRAIGHT TO YOUR FAT AMERICAN ASS.
Yes, California produces A LOT of meat. 80% of the beef the ENTIRE COUNTRY eats comes from FOUR factory farms in California. Now do the math. How many cows are each of those factory farms slaughtering per day? AND it's only four factory farms, so to imply that closing those down would put a hundreds of families in abject poverty is ridiculous. You know what DOES destroy lives? FACTORY FARMS! After all, that's still life. Oh, and fuck the economy. Like I said in my arguments (as if you actually read them), we're spending most of our money on weapons for America and Israel. As if we give a damn about where the money is actually going or coming from. It is ridiculous, furthermore, to say a family would lose its house or dinner if it stopped working at a factory farm. There are things to eat besides meat, or I'd be dead right now. With the closing down of factory farms, independent groves and gardens might exist again.
Have you never heard of wild horses?! God help you. You need to read Darwin. Again, even horses are fine without one hundred fifty-pound men jumping on their backs and kicking their organs. A horse knows what it can eat and when to run, as evinced by its cantering when it gets spooked. Domestication is harmful, and it will certainly take a while to reverse, but not as long as it took to create--everything goes to chaos.
Full Animal Liberation would be a gradual process, and only detrimental to your meaty and monetary cravings.

But PETA would like to and does imagine that you have that shih tzus constitutes a form of slavery, and according to their own statements you are no better than somebody who owned a few hundred black people back in the 18th century.

I'm pretty sure his point was that if we gave animals "freedom", they'd have to take on the same responsibilities as other "free" people. As a citizen of this country, I'm affored certain rights and freedoms, but I'm also subject to its laws.
If we freed animals, we'd need to convene special courts to try them as they undoubtedly couldn't be trusted not to steal, cause property damage, shit and fuck all over the place, and generally cause massive social disorder.
