I had probably the best weekend in ages, after a week of one of the foulest moods. It cured me!

Friday night, I got the most summery, gorgeous bouquet of flowers from my man, and we went out to a late but delightful al fresco dinner in Union Sq. Could not stop shmooping over a 5-mo. old Aussie Shepherd puppy at the next table -- my favorite, a red merled. So cute.

Saturday, I woke early, met up with a friend, took the dog to the farmers' market, said hello to a handful of other neighborhood friends, and baought local goat cheese, greens, berries, and potted herbs. Planting, reading, puttering, followed by more puttering and relaxing.

Sunday, we headed out to find brunch in South Boston, where we had homemade sausage and a fantastic veggie scramble at a hole in the wall called St. Alphonsus. Parked near the ICA afterward, and spent all afternoon visiting the Tall Ships, wandering around the piers all the way to the Aquarium and back. It was my first Tall Ships visit since the late 70s, which was one of my earliest childhood memories. We caught the sea lion demonstration, watching them swim and play in the tank outside the Aquarium. I got to give Mu, Lena's mom, a drive-by hug as we passed each other on the crowded footbridge. We headed home to fresh greens stir-fried with chicken and mushrooms, unwinding for the week ahead.

I miss my scooter, especially in this perfect weather. But I'm going to ignore it for now, and focus on the gorgeous, humidity and cloud-free weather, and getting things done so I can enjoy another amazing weekend coming up. I'm stupidly in love, coming up on a 3-year anniversary, with one best friend soon to be my neighbor, and the other on her way to visit. I'll be trying to Hoop and NIA this week. My dad's birthday is coming up, as is payday, ArtBeat in Davis Sq., and more mild, sunny, gorgeous days ahead. No more brooding.

shmoop, weekend_update
