This weekend, I:

• Completed a 3rd bike project, this time truly solo. I installed new, chrome, lovely bullet blinkers, replacing the previous black plastic pair, one of which had been cracked since last summer. This involved removing the entire headlight casing, and wiring. My first major mechanical accomplishment ever!

This is not counting the windscreen install or oil change, both done within the least 6 weeks, both with an extra set of strong hands helping, although those also count, sort of. Being able to peek into, begin to comprehend, and alter your own vehicle is *incredibly empowering*. This has to be one of the simplest of complex engines, but still, it is mine, and I can do things to it on my own. Plus I save $80 an hour every time I do. :) Also gave Lili her first wash and polish, for the extra shiny.

• 2nd NIA class in a week, which left me battered and sore the next day, and this morning as well. It has been ages since a workout has left me sore, and yet I am wanting more, so I am going back again tonight. The $25 unlimited 2-week intro pass is a steal.

• We finished the Planet of the Apes series. I liked it much better now having seen the whole series back to back in a week.

• Ordered new hiking boots, which should arrive tomorrow. I never thought I would become an LL Bean girl, but no Merrells ever fit me, whereas Bean's shoes and boots always do, and the quality is as good, if not better due to their warranties. Should be broken in by first camping trip of the summer.

• Continued work on my velvet coat project. The stunning vintage house coat I bought in NYC is moth-eaten and nearly shredded on every seam, but after hemming it, I have enough scrap to fill in the gaps and refurbish it, which I have begun to do. I look forward to finishing this stage, so I can begin embellishing it with pearls and pearl appliques, to cover the patchwork and make it a unique custom piece. I expect to finish it by the time the cool weather makes it wearable.

• Attended a Nepali graduation cookout at RS' old apt for S.'s brother, who just finished his Masters'. It felt like a neighborhood block party in a fun way. R's new gf is a baker, and she made one of the most amazing cakes I have ever tasted. She needs business cards and a website asap.

I am still feeling and behaving rather low key, but with new accomplishments, projects, and a sense of alertness and motivation returning, it is a much more active, productive, and happy low key -- which is extremely satisfying. :)
