Art in the Park - Again!
We returned to this year's edition of "Art in Strathcona Park" (11th edition) which features mostly local artists and artisans selling their pieces outdoors in little stalls or even on blankets in the grass. The whole event is a fundraiser for Schizophrenia and takes place in a beautiful park setting with huge trees and green grass near the Rideau River.
Again this year, the weather was perfect and the sundry displays were colourful and ecclectic. We made a point to visit our new favorite artist, Dietrich Rosteck, and ended up acquiring another one of his quirky and irreverent pieces, an untitled 20''x20'' oil on canvas:
This piece was slated to appear at the Seattle Erotic Art Festival but, by the time the artist received the address to mail the piece, the exhibit was over. A photo of this painting nevertheless made it into their catalog brochure.
