nothing is permenant (but some things are forever.)

Why do we torture ourselves, day in and day out? What is it in our nature that makes us want to break our own hearts?

with love and squalor,

no, hope is what gets us out of bed in the mornings, what drives us to put shoes on our feet and go outside of our apartments. hope helps us smile in the light of new opportunity; hope tells us to say hello to someone new.

this other thing, it tells us to listen to albums written for us by exes. or to read old emails or old journal entries, solely to replay the past over and over in our brains, like picking it apart ANY MORE would yield some new revelation. this other thing, it is not hope. it's the polar opposite of hope.

this other thing, it's tempestuous. it's what makes us ugly when we are alone.
