Yikes

*sheepishly looks in* Okay...so...my last LJ update was almost a month ago. What did I say then? Did I say something about updating on a regular basis?? Yikes...

Yes, I'm at work so I do not have an excuse. Here's the latest on yours truly:

I turned 40 on Jan. 13th. I do not feel 40, I still feel like I'm in my early 20s even though at times my body feels 40! LOL. I hated saying good bye to my 30s but I didn't enter my 40s kicking and screaming so that's a good thing. Emmett, Kazuo and I went to Bali Thai restaurant. YUMMY!! Kazuo was really good at the restaurant (I shall give the inventor of Cheerios several kisses) and even had some Jasmine rice. I didn't want anything for my birthday in way of a present because The Who may be going on tour this year and I want to be able to go see them in different cities. That can be my way of celebrating my 40th. Then on the 15th myself, Emmett, Kazuo and my closest friends went to La Cantina restaurant for my birthday. A party would have been nice but for me this was intimate and all I wanted and it was great. Great food and all my good friends interacting with eachother.

In January Emmett and I got pre-approved for a mortgage. We have been going to open houses since September but finally got off our butts and saw a mortgage broker and now have an agent. The real estate agent is the father of one of Emmett's friends. A really nice man. The mortgage broker went to the same high school as me and I remember him, he was a year ahead of me. Small world. So far we haven't been able to find a house that has taken my breath away. It's been disappointing but I know our house is out there somewhere. I love the older homes with large dining/living rooms with hardwood floors and wood trim. When you've lived in an apartment it's hard to entertain large groups so it's important that our house can accommodate that. I want to be able to have Christmas at our place or have Kazuo's birthday parties in our home. As for the kitchen, I'm not too fussy on that. A driveway is a must. A nice backyard is important. A clean, dry basement (doesn't have to be finished) would be great. Three bedrooms would be ideal. *fingers crossed we find a place soon*

Kazuo is always on the go now. I think he's going to have a pretty good sense of humour. The other day Emmett was holding his arms as Kazuo was standing and I came up from behind and pulled his track pants down. He started to laugh. Of course I then had to do it over and over and over again. He also seems to love animals. He and I went to Sylvia's last Thursday. Sylvia has a big dog who is a big suck. He's a beautiful border collie/wolf cross and is about the size of a wolf. He's mostly black with a bit of white. His head looks like a wolf's head. He has a loud bark and jumps up and down when he gets excited. Sylvia tried to hold him down when we first arrived because she didn't want Kazuo to be scared of Izzy and she didn't want Kazuo to have a negative first experience with dogs. Far from it. Kazuo loved Izzy. All he did was laugh and giggle at him when he jumped, or licked his hand and face, ran around and even when Izzy made him jump when he barked Kazuo still laughed. I'll have to post some updated pictures of Kazuo here soon.

That's pretty well my life in a nutshell so far. Cherished weekends at home with the family or looking at houses. If there's any news I'll post them here. Anybody have any first home buying tips for me?
