I ignore it unless it's on fire and coming toward my station.

That's from one of the NPCs in the very first Fate session of the first game I ran. gentlesamurai, of course, had to plunk down a Fate point and say "That! That is going to happen to us." So, in the very last game their ship winds up on fire and out of control, heading straight for the poor NPCs station. Gentle gets his fate point back plus some interest. And I get a memory that pops up whenever things get too hairy to properly cope.

Things have been busy, mostly with work. We still have server problems and it's eating right through my days, to the detriment of the project we have on deck. Thankfully we're in the middle of a temp hiring process that will likely give me the resources I need to get the project back on track. This assumes that the old server will eventually calm down or I'll be told it's good enough. I don't know, we'll see how that goes.

On the home front terrier_girl and I are catching up on all the things left undone around the house: repairs, paperwork, decision making. Makes for busy days and busy nights, and often a hefty blurring in between. We've made an impressive dent in our tasks already. So much so that we might be going out this weekend as a family, you know, just for fun. How strange.

V is going great as always. She's definitely entered the mimic stage, repeating everything and anything we do or say. Yesterday I foolishly cut loose with a harsh Germanic "Fudge!" as I was wrestling with a pine garland that just wouldn't stay put on top of the door. My lovely daughter immediately mimicked the word. I have to redouble my efforts to curtail my swearing or I'll wind up the proud father of the worlds youngest sailor-truck driver-drill sergeant.

Dargo wishes we could go to the park more. He gives me sad eyes. Constantly.

And that's about all the news that's fit to print. We get our tree tonight from the grandparents (who can't host this year due to their metaphorical station being threatened by incoming, burning debris). Hopefully I can carve a path to the decorations so we can trim it tonight while we have help, or it might have to sit in our living room naked for a while.

v, game, around the house, work
