Violet Eyes
Those eyes could not be mistakable. They were purple in color, round, and kindly, though a shade of secrecy was clear behind them. Kagome knew instantly where she’d seen those violet eyes before.
“Class,” said the teacher, speaking over the chattering group of students. “I’d like to welcome our new student. Her name is Aiko Tsunashi, and she will be joining our class.”
There was a drone of unenthusiastic welcome as the girl smiled at her new classmates. Kagome was staring at her, shock, confusion, and intrigue written all over her face. This girl, Aiko, could not be mistaken. Her wavy black hair, her strong, muscular but beautiful build, and, most prominent, her sad, violet eyes.
The eyes were Kagome’s first hint. They were the perfect match in color to the monk she knew well, and they had the unmistakable shape of the Demon Slayer’s eyes. Could this girl be the descendent of her friends?
It was possible. Sango had agreed to have Miroku’s child, hadn’t she? So perhaps this was proof that the monk had finally gotten his wish.
Kagome was instantly overwhelmed with joy. All her hard work, all her efforts, all her scheming to push the two of them together had not been in vain! This was proof that they would have a child! She felt like singing, and she probably would have if she weren’t in the middle of Geometry.
However, this instant excitement was short lived. As soon as Aiko sat down and began to write, Kagome noticed the glove. On the girl’s right hand was a dark pink glove, and Kagome felt her stomach sink. That glove was not a good thing. She knew what was behind that glove, and the idea of it scared her half to death.

“Kagome, is something the matter?” It was Sango’s voice, hovering a few feet above her.
She was back in the Feudal Era and there was much weighing on her mind. She jumped slightly, startled. “Huh? Oh, Sango. No…. I’m fine.”
“Are you certain?” Miroku asked. “You haven’t been yourself since you returned from your time on the other side of the well.”
Kagome forced a smile and shook her head. “No,” she said. “I’m okay… I promise.”
She’d decided not to tell them. To tell them would be a mistake. If what she believed was true, then Naraku was not dead and Miroku’s family would bear the curse of the Wind Tunnel for years to come. That would mean Miroku would die young.
But there was time. They still had a shot and killing Naraku and saving her friend. To tell them what she believed would only hurt and scare both Sango and Miroku - something she didn’t want to do. No. For once, Kagome would just be silent and let fate take its course.
