I always think there is something wrong with my brain that will perhaps develop into something worse much later--but then it is always the intelligent who get mental disorders, no? And what does that say? That they think themselves mad, no? Depressing entry but good
not necessarily, one could argue that it's the unintellegent who become sick because they aren't smart enough to think themselves out of the illness. i'm not saying i argue that, but some people do.
although there is substantial research to show that a lot of disorders like depression ocd and schizophrenia are caused by a lack of problem solving skills.
I don't know, I've been depressed and I've solved many a problem (in video games). Considering the 'healthy' people I've met and those who weren't, it makes me feel like those who weren't were aware of something that those who were weren't. (whoa)
not THAT kind of problems. it's like, "i'm depressed and i know there are reasons why i'm depressed, but i don't know what to do to fix those problems so i won't be depressed." it's the whole learned helplessness thing.
BUT you could be right, there's been other research that says that depressed people are more realistic. that nondepressed people kind of delude themselves that their lives are better than they really are so they won't feel bad. depressed people accept the bad things, and naturally it makes them depressed.
huh, turns out i actually have learned something in my classes. who'd have thought
