(Sorrow is in the lighthouse, unaware that the recorder on his device has been bumped on; he is dozing, when he flinches, awakens, and leaps out of his seat.)
What--stop--stop that! (Kicks a rat that is biting his ankle, drawing a slow trickle of blood.) Get off me!
No, I don't have any food -- just -- augh! (Rats are dashing across the floor in a furious craze, fighting with each other when they aren't climbing on the furniture and bashing into Sorrow, chewing at his clothes.) Da, da, I'll leave, stop that!
(He flees the lighthouse with a rat clinging to his pants; drawing his gun, he pegs it with a tranquilizer dart and it drops off asleep.)
What was that all about?
(A seagull flutters into a fearful rage when he steps next to it, dashing in to peck at him before rushing away in a frenzy. He stares at it with a surprised, blank look in his silver eyes.)
It's so dark out here, though the moon provides some light...what time is it? I must have overslept -- no, the radio says that it is a sensible hour of the day. It must be a curse, or else my clock has failed spectacularly over the course of the night.
I think I'll cancel my plans for today about going underground. The monsters are probably more irate than usual, and I don't want to test how many tranq darts it takes to drop one of them from a furious rage to sleeping. Now if I can avoid all manner of small animals today..
full moon day,
