Bakura says that the best way to learn English is to fully immerse yourself in it, so Yusuke goes to the nearest library and gets the librarian to transfer an unholy number of audio books onto the iPod Hiei gave him. (He keeps the Spice Girls songs on there, though.)
Yusuke only understands about half of what's being read but he likes the way the words sound. Which is why, he reasons, he keeps on listening to the audio books even after he's got the English language mostly figured out.

Yusuke misses Keiko. He chalks it up to the uncertainty of his current situation. Before, he always knew that he'd get himself out of whatever tight spot he'd found himself in, then be able to go back home and tug her hair or pull her skirt over her head or something stupid like that, so being away wasn't such a big deal.
But what if the Porter never sends him home and he never gets to see her again?

The hole in the wall of his apartment gives the place character. Or that's how Yusuke explains it when people ask, or when his neighbors ask if he wants to fill it in. Mostly, he likes it because he put it there. It's ugly and probably detracts from the overall value of the place, but Yusuke's never been one to cover up flaws, his own or otherwise.

Blue, somehow, reminds Yusuke of himself. He seems fragile, and Yusuke wants to offer him the kind of protection no one ever offered him. He doesn't know if he gets that across correctly, but sometimes he gets Blue to smile, so he thinks he's doing okay.

It still confuses him when people here frown at him and tell him to get back to filing and stop doing dangerous things. He likes fighting; he's good at it. Why does it matter how young he is, so long as he knows what he's doing?
Bonus!
Yusuke looks over his shoulder a lot. He knows the Tugoro brothers aren't here; he would have sensed them if they were. But they could arrive here any day, and the possibility keeps him on edge. Sometimes he remembers how the Younger Toguro brought down a building on top of him and his hands start shaking so badly he has to jam them into his pockets. He spends those nights running through Genaki's training rituals and telling himself he'd be ready if they ever were Ported in.
