Brilliant news!!! It shows that Foxtel still wants to show a little good faith with their fans... Hang on, this will be Southern Star bringing out the DVDs... I'm sorry Foxtel - my mistake... (puts bitchy self back into box)
It really is good news, and a good omen for Southern Star's commitment to the continuation of the world of Spirited! Let us hope that this time, they put some 'behind the scenes' extras in as well. It will have to be 3 disks, which means that there will be the space - I suppose that it depends on how well Series 1 sold, and whether they think that they will make a profit (or break even) with the DVD's of Series 2. Fingers crossed!!!...
Now I finally feel that it is safe to delete (such a harsh word) Spirited from my hard drive. I couldn't do it before today, as it felt like I was betraying Henry and Suzy. Now I will run off one more copy for safety, and delete it.
Roll on February, when I will buy 6 copies of the DVDs to replace the 6 copies that I burned and sent to friends. It would have been better if the DVDs cane out for Christmas, but at least they are coming out!
I think the actual DVD distributor is Universal Australia, well Season 1 was apparently. But it does list all the other funding bodies on the back of the DVD.
I had the same logic about the number of eps and number of disks meaning spare space. At the least it would be nice to get the Webisodes on there. They were lovely. (I would love the Waiting For Mallet doco on DVD but it doesn't fit in context with the S2 DVD as much).
Honestly though, I'm expecting the same format as S1 bare bones. Just happy to have the release. Hoping to have more news come through on content soon though. They shot themselves in the foot by leaving it this late though, as I have read a lot of people saying they were now just going to download it instead. We'll give a bit of a push via the site about supporting quality products come February.
Such a good friend gifting Spirited. I wish I could afford to do so!
