Resources for the tutorial
Fonts- You can use any fonts you like
Screencaps- John, Teyla
Source- PSD File

1- Open up photoshop and create a document with the below mentioned settings


For this tutorial we will be using two pictures (mentioned above under resources)
For the first step lets drag in the image of John


When you drag an image to photoshop, it is automatically sized to fit the width and height and is created to a smart object.
Using the handles expand to the view that you like
Tip: When resizing images, always click on the Maintain aspect ratio, and hold down SHIFT and ALT when resizing the image


Once the image is in position, confirm the transform


Next bring in the image of Teyla and positing as displayed below


Then select the blending option and set it to Lighten

 

2- Lets start working on this now
Lets put a new adjustment layer by selecting levels from the adjustment panel and putting the below mentioned settings

   
 

Next erase the parts that you don't need, which I tool the eraser tool and brushed off the hair of Teyla, but remember before doing any type of modification, remember to rasterize the layer

  

Add another adjustment layer, Curves as per the settings mentioned below
RGB:
Point 1- (output 76, Input 68)
Point 2- (output 142, Input 130)
Point 3- (output 199, Input 185)

 
 

BLUE
Point 1- (output 0, Input 0)
Point 2- (output 64, Input 67)

 

3. Lets do the coloring part
Make a new layer and fill with the color #054856 mentioned below, make sure its above all the other layers




Set the layer blending mode to Lighten and the Fill value to 43%

 

Create another layer and fill with the color # 5a0505


Change the blending mode to Exclusion and the Opacity to 55%

 

Create another layer and fill with the color #021128


Set the layer blending mode to Color Dodge

 

4- Touch up
Lets sharpen the image a little, Select John and Teyla images from the layers panel, and select Filter and Sharpen

 

Create another layer on top of all the layers and set the blending mode to Screen, then take the brush tool


Select the color red, and then click a few times just above Teyla


Next select the text tool from the Tools panel


use any type of text for two wordings, please note below the settings I have used




Then save your file by selecting File and then Save for Web & Devices

 Select PNG from the list and click SAVE


And your Done
