I heard an interesting story at church yesterday. I forget who it was about, but it was a real story supposedly.
There was a preacher who felt that his ministry was unfruitful and lacked spiritual power. He prayed to God over this, and he had a vision of Jesus standing next to him. Jesus asked him, have you given me the keys to your life? The preacher took his keys out of his pocket and gave them to Jesus. Jesus asked, are they all there? The preacher said, well no. Jesus replied, if you don't give me all the keys then I won't accept any of them. The preacher was so sorrowful that Jesus turned and started to walk away that he called out Master, here - take all the keys. Ever since that day, the preacher's ministry bore much fruit and his preaching became very bold and powerful and many people came to Christ through him.
Even if that story is not real, it's something for you to think about. Have you given Jesus ALL the keys to your life? The keys to your hopes and dreams? The keys to your disappointments and hurts? The keys to your relationships? The keys to everything? If not, offer them to Christ today. Don't hold them back any longer. Jesus doesn't want a half-hearted commitment - He has called us to be extreme Christ followers. This is what you are committing yourself to when you accept Jesus into your life... don't stop halfway.
Luke 9:57-62 As they were walking along someone said to Jesus, "I will follow you no matter where you go." But Jesus replied, "Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but I, the Son of Man, have no home of my own, not even a place to lay my head." He said to another person, "Come, be my disciple." The man agreed, but he said, "Lord, first let me return home and bury my father." Jesus replied, "Let those who are spiritually dead care for their own dead. Your duty is to go and preach the coming of the Kingdom of God." Another said, "Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family." But Jesus told him, "Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God."
