internet WTF?!?

ummm...so for some odd reason i can't access random websites (either the page doesn't load and gives me the "page not found" error...or it loads with broken image links or just text only)...completely random (no pattern, not any one particular site). i'm on firefox (but it's also happening on IE)...restarted...still happenening,,,did a spy sweeper/virus scan (all clear). maybe firewall related? i use mcafee security suite...on windoze (xp pro).

i am also connected to a router (hmmm...maybe that's a possibility...ugh!) just venting...but if someone out there has experienced something remotely similar, please chime in...
