I'm freezing. I'm at work, and they have the ac on. It's nice outside, but in here it's like the arctic.
I'm taking my break really late today. I always work while I eat, so I never took my half hour of unpaid lunch. Now, everyone I need to talk to has left the building, so I decided to take my break, even though I'm leaving at 7.
I love my job, but some evenings it gets slow, because my work is completely dependent on other people being reachable. When they all have to work out in the field, I can't do anything. That, and some of them avoid me because they don't like the program and don't believe in domestic violence.
So, Adam has been looking for a job, and trying to sell his car. If he can get another car, his friend Nate can get him a really good job, but as of right now, he has no way to get to the place. Some guy called about buying the volvo, so hopefully that pans out.
We are going to a benefit dinner tomorrow for a little girl named Alex who is dying of cancer. Her parents want to take her to disney, but they can't afford it. For some reason the make-a-wish foundation isn't helping them. They also want to try an experimental treatment that isn't covered by insurance. The treatment costs so much money (I think $20,000) that they can't even imagine affording it. My housemate Kyle set the whole dinner up, cuz his ex-gf has babysat for Alex's family for years, and she loves these kids like family.
Anyway, I'm having complications with my Halloween costume. One of the crucial pieces is impossible to get for a reasonable price, and Halloween is fast approaching.
So, I'm making pretty bedroom curtains out of crepe-backed satin. I had to order the fabric, cuz when I went to the fabric store, they only had 1yd left. They called me today to tell me that it came in. After dinner I'm going down to pick it up. I'm hoping I can make the curtains on saturday.
