story i wrote for final last year

i just found this story i wrote for my final for english. my english teacher was raving about it and said that i totally could become a writer, and it may have been one of the best stories she had ever read. here it is. it is a lot of reading but is completly worth reading.

Look at the green agriculture thriving around you. Now imagine what earth would look like without it. That is what has happened throughout the years of deforestation, disease, and pollution. What remains is a cement wasteland where everything is man made. I watched this happen and participated in the protests against an organization called SWEEP. They take your land and claim to develop it when they are decreasing the development of nature. The rest of us humans are stuck in this cement jungle wondering how we can survive without our resources. The only good thing that has come out of this tragedy is that you can skateboard on anything.

I stood at the top of one of the mountains in the great mountain range. I felt my adrenaline rush as I descended down the base. The first drop makes you go as fast as your heart is racing while you continue on your run down a mountain so steep you cannot see its deadly end. At this point I remembered that I was planning on tightening my trucks because they were extremely loose. I felt my trucks start to shake and swivel back and forth. I knew that the only way to make it down safely was to keep my cool. This is one of those mountains where it truly shows your skills. There are many people around that skateboard down what they consider fat hills that are really just average sized. I have met many of these people that claim to go on big hills, and watched as they went from a quarter of the way down and barley picking up any speed at all. I call these people lackers because they lack their own personality and just follow the trend, which I am always trying to be above. I have seen some of these pathetic attempts at human being try to go from the top because they did the top of Little Clef. I went into survival mode, and that is the last of what I remember.

I reached the bottom, and realized I had made it. I walked back up to the very top and looked toward the seemingly bleeding sun. The great mountains overlook the fossils of what used to be a thriving civilization. The thoughts of what it was like living in those towers that seem to touch the sky rushed through my head as fast as the wind blows. I saw my friend Dane Kalicious sitting at the bench oiling his wheels. I sat down next to him.
“Ima Savmohn! That was a toastin run” bro” , Dane said. He was tall, with skin browned from the nonstop heat of the atmosphere. His had a look in his eyes, as if he were at fat camp, and found a box of donuts.
“It hella was man, in fact, so toastin…….. it seemed like it was 420….. dude”, I said.
“We need to go to town. Lets go down The Enfuego.” The Enfuego was this new run we found the other day that we have never tried to get to our garden at the Crazy Sick Rollin Club. We grow the finest hydro in Nor Cal. Since there is no where to grow vegetables but inside due to there being nothing but cement remaining on the earth. People are living off the fuel from the trash from the ancient civilizations. We have designed Hydroponics systems out of plastic that has been melted from old plastic items found in landfills.

We reached the opening to the start of Enfuego. It started off going down this cement cave that opened up at the gorge and continued down to where appears to be the Crazy Sick Rollin Club. It looks like the same octagon shaped roof with a donut shaped parking lot. We started going down, luckily my trucks were tight this time. We reached the end of the dark cave, and emerged into the sunlight. I looked to my left and saw a color I would never think I would see in the endless miles of cement. I signaled to Dane to turn left. We went along the base of the mountain until we got to the farthest left side. There was a huge amount of the least likely plant to be growing in a militant, government controlled, fundamentalist state. I took my first gaze at cannabis growing naturally.
“Wow! These plants are ready to harvest, and nobody ever comes to this part of the mountain. I ride over here every day and I have seen nobody. But I have never seen anything like this. We can make a lot of money selling these because outdoor growing of anything does not exist like this. It must be natural to this part of the continent, and is starting to grow back. “

“Dane man, that is the only known spot left of a planet that used to be covered in vegetation. If we cut these down we will be just as bad as the SWEEP. Sometimes I wonder if you work for them, I mean you just have this vibe that I have always got from SWEEP agents. “

“Come on dude, you have seen me beat the living daylights out of that SWEEP agent that tried to arrest me after Phil Auhp’s party”

“You mean the one you were on acid at? I remember you yelling something about government slime, and punching Bill Usination in the face.”

“Wasn’t that a costume party?”

“Ya dumbass.”

“I feel as if something really weird is going on, I mean you would not normally accuse me of such an absurd crime as being a SWEEP officer. I am starting to get a weird feeling about these plants. Do you think that this is a trap?”

I hoped that this was one of many plants that were going to repopulate the earth. The air was becoming harder and harder to breathe. We have invented fans that are powerful enough to create oxygen, but they take a lot of power, and the world is running low. The part of the ridge that the spot was located looked over the vast seemingly endless stretch of cities. Everywhere was becoming developed with houses, and strip malls. I am surprised the mountains have not yet been developed beyond the pavement. But, I guess they are too lazy to take their gear up the steep slopes, and want to attract tourists with the thought of having a secluded Mountain View for the hotels that lined the outskirts of Greenstone. Tourists do not usually know how to reach the top of the mountain because of its complex trails.

“If there is this little patch, then there must be much more plants where it came from” I said.

All of a sudden everything started to shake. I looked up into the sky and saw what looked like a giant bud flying through the sky.
“This is some Cheech and Chong shit right here man”, I said.
The UFO was hovering above us now, and coming closer every second.
“Ima, lets roll out of here bro!”
“No man don’t be a wuss, how often do you get to meet aliens?”
It landed with a boom. The boom did not stop after it was safely on the ground. I realized that it must be some kind of enormous subwoofer. The door slowly opened, and out came the oddest looking creature I have ever seen. It was not one single color but tie-dyed every color of the rainbow. It had powerful green wings like a dragon. But the weirdest thing about it was that it otherwise looked human. Three followed him out of the craft and they made their way towards us.
“We come in peace, we are from the planet Hippie 2 galaxies to the left. ”
“You mean hippies are not from earth?”
“ Not exactly, the people called hippies are, but not the concepts. If we had not had any intervention with the world, then the human race would have died out a long time ago. For example, you see this plant here? We introduced it to this planet in hope it would calm humans down enough to stop fighting, but now they are fighting about it.”
I could not believe my ears. I looked over at Dane, and his face was as surprised as mine probably looked.

“Oh I forget to mention my name. My name is Purple, and these are my friends Tetra, Vapor, and Smoke. We thought that your planet was going to be perfectly fine, and that Gore guy was going to win in the year 2000. But the world changed for the worse fifty years later. The other planets in the interplanetary council have voted to make sure that you guys do not come deep in to space seeing what humans did when they discovered there was more to the planet then just Europe, and the Middle East.”

Life as I knew it crumbled before my eyes. So many people deny life on other planets because they have not found any other in our solar system. This is probably because they all saw us developing as a society, and wanted to get as far away from us as they could. There was so much I did not know about anything that I thought I knew about life. I felt my mind expanding so much it felt as if someone was poking my brain cells with a pin. I did not need to know any more, because I felt like I knew it all.

“Wow you have really opened my eyes, I feel like I am seeing things as they are for the first time,” I said.

“Once you know the secrets of the world you do not even need to contemplate it. Most of your subconscious memory is used for this. What people do not realize is that marijuana actually can help you unlock this part of the brain, and the short-term memory cells are being transferred into the darkness of the unknown. Didn’t you wonder why you debated the meaning of life with friends when you were really high? Well I think I have told you enough, you will have the mind capacity to change the world for the better now. We have a party to go to and will be late if we chat any longer. Peace bro’s.”

As they flew away I thought long, and hard about what everything surrounding me meant. These thoughts were too much for me to take, and the sun was making me dehydrated. I thought about how I needed some water. The next thing I knew there was a water in my hand.
“What just happened-ed Ima? I thought seeing a flying saucer was cool, but now that we can have anything we want as long as we can think of it we can shape the world how we want it to look.”
“OK man, lets draw a line, and everything on my half of the line is going to be how I want it, and your half how you want it.”

We both closed our eyes, and I realized we did not even need to do half-and-half, because we were both on the same thought train, and our imaginations combined to form the perfect world. When we regained consciousness we saw our beautiful masterpiece. It was what the world probably looked like before man appeared, with a bunch of extra weed. SWEEP was ancient history, and so were we. I looked at Dane, and we realized we were no longer on the ground. Everything was becoming smaller and smaller. I saw what looked like a deserted paradise. We floated higher then the clouds, and then beyond into the blackness that lay ahead.
