Thanks for this. Is it wrong of me to want to make an icon of Naoroji, with the caption: "This is what a feminist looks like!"?

You're welcome.

Done. I decided to use color, instead of an exclaimation point.

That's excellent.

In addition to his support for equal enfranchisement for women, he also started literacy programmes for women in India. He's a much respected political hero in India.

But she's a feminist so her headscarf couldn't possibly be pretty or girlie or feminine. Also, it's not a sensible item of clothing, it's a sign of oppreshun. Interwebz FACTZ!!2!! ;-)

I like his hat. I would say that I like her headscarf as well, but I am filled with the urge to hand her hair pins to keep it from sliding off.

I think the Persian-style turban-surmounted-by-tapering-stovepipe look could be VERY BIG next season or, indeed, any season with Zoroastrians, Parsis, and historical re-enactors.

From the jaunty angle of her dupatta, I suspect Madame Cama already had a ferocious collection of hairpins.

A manperson with feminisms? Surely it is from some strange alternate world facing the dark side of the sun, where women have beards and men must wear eyepatches in their presence? Or could it be that I was lied to?! That crazed womanpersons do not wish to masculate me? That... it was OUR WORLD ALL ALONG?

...nah. Alternate world. Eyepatches. Definitely.

I like his hat also. It should come back 'in', as the 'with it' people say. Mebbe it's still 'in' and I just dunno. If so it should certainly stay 'on'.

Ha, APRIL FOOL!

Oh, wait... apparently it wasn't 1st April when I posted and some men do realio trulio believe women should vote and be equal. Although not in Switzerland or the more extremely Christian parts of the U.S., OBVIOUSLY.

I've emasculated young gentlemen cows. Do I get extra feminism points?

Zoroastrian headgear has been in fashion for 3000-3500 years although I note that the precise shapes and sizes of the components varies through history.

Personally, I'm still yearning for a revival of stovepipe hats for men and cloaks for everyone. You could be a trendsetter. You know you'd look fabdoodlicious in the full Isambard. Go on, g'on, gwon, GWON! [/Mrs Doyle]

What really puts the fear of Eve into the brotherhood, and I tell you this in strictest confidence, is the movement for International Men's Day to be properly marked. We were all discussing this only the other day. Until 1909 men had 365 days. Now, if we really must, we could discuss ceding a second day to women next year. That would still leave us 363 days, at least until 2109. A whole 24 hours is a hard sacrifice to make but it's a settlement we could live with. But now some hotheads on our own side want to hack us down to just 1 day a year! Unacceptable.

...Wait, Switzerland? Is Heidi yodelling for liberation from patriarchy?

I've emasculated young gentlemen cows. Do I get extra feminism points? You get extra hardcore points, extra scarysheep points that you didn't really need and the highly coveted extra sneering if ( ... )

Father's Day: own up and you might get a card once a year in addition to the Child Support Agency on your back until the little bastard turns 18.... probably not the best incentive.

Yay for scarysheep points! ::hoards them like an old dragon with SHINY GOLD::

I had to google to find out who Rebecca Loos is. I'm none the wiser, heh.

I was blissfully confident that you would be able to enlighten me.

:-P

It's the Dodgy Businessman's Cheroot which makes that photo perfect.
