Frustrated

Every step forward is a step back it seems.

It's still not safe

I am a feminist.

unrepentantly feminist.

And as long as the ideology clearly expressed in this article continue to be spread and accepted I will continue to be a feminist.

In reading the diary of the shooter I remember something that my teacher Pema Chodron said:

"The most dangerous thought is to believe that you are fundamentally different from other people."

The thought that we are unlike others and therefore are unhealable, beyond help, or that our suffering is unlike any other is the thought that leads only to to further suffering and disregard for others, it becomes the ultimate selfishness that only makes us more depressed.

It is this thought that allowed this man to mire in his suffering for years and come to the twisted conclusion that there was only one way out.

It is this vicious memetic that permits the belief that men are fundamentally different from women and therefore irreconcilably unequal.

It is this vicious memetic that is perpetuated on forums like 4chan, and livejournal, and throughout the internet that allow the idea that the unique severity of your suffering gives you the right to cause others suffering and to be ignorant of the consequences of your own actions.

No one has that right.

But the thing that angers me the most is bitpig's denial of the relevance of Women's Studies while discussing the dangerous ideologies that lead to violence against women.

"You do realize that "women's studies" is a huge, steaming load, right?"

Instead of reaming him a new one, another user gives a polite inquiry as to why he believes that.

He discounts the entirety of Women's studies on a statement Camille Paglia made 10 years ago. Commenting in the same post he goes on to say:

"Most American women are, frankly, shrieking harpies. They deserve the doglike, overgrown 13-year-old "men" they end up with.

Fortunately, the women I choose to share my life with -- my dear wife, our friends, our hostess on this LJ, etc. -- are shining exceptions to this general rule. Finer ladies you could not ask for.

As for Joe Loser, the gym murderer: good riddance to human garbage. A lot of guys are frustrated and bitter. SO WHAT? No real man allows his feelings to dictate his actions. And killing people, for any reason other than in defense of innocent life or property, is right out."

Not only does he insult the majority of gallo_de_pelea's readership, he goes on to qualify himself as a real man by mentioning his exceptional wife and discounting the value of human emotion all in one swift blow.

My assessment of this human being is not nice, kind, sweet, ladylike, or meek.

WHAT A FUCKING ASSHOLE

That is all this mean, angry, shrieking, crazy, stuck-up, frigid, harpy, heifer, dyke, bitch with daddy issues has to say.

p.p.s. This was better the first time, before lj deleted it and I cried in frustration and then painstakingly recomposed the whole thing, but I hope the message still comes across.
