love is a hot waffle

it was my dads fifty-somethingth birthday thingy today. we took him to breakfast at this awesome restaurant right by the yacht club, it looks out over the swan river, and all of the perth city skyline in a very pretty scenic sort of way. the breakfast was really good, although the eggs weren;t the only things that got poached - we were sitting in pretty bright sun, and i think at least two of us have one-sided crazy tans. then a couple of my mates took him out on a 24-foot yacht for the afternoon. it was a little slow going for a while, in fact we were becalmed in the middle of the river for about 10 minutes, but before we started seeing each other as delicious meals, the fremantle doctor swept in and whooshed us downriver again. sailing is pretty cool. we just pooted around for another 2 hours, getting in the ways of all the other boats racing in the Diggers Cup, which is the ANZAC day every boat can race event.

in summary: sailing is fun, sunburn is burny, and my dad is a pretty cool dude. happy fifty-whatever, dad!
