Wizards

The cunning man of the Celts and the wise man of countless animistic and/or shamanistic traditions and debatable portions of the mystic across many cultures and the druid and the bard and of course Le Guin and Tolkien and other favorite authors poured into a blender  with ice, herbs, booze and fruit to taste and frappe for 13 minutes plus minutes of chosen magickal number, pour into gelatin mold let set and enjoy.
The question to one and all is: Aside from Oberon Zell Ravenheart's lovely book, does the icon of wizard hold useful meaning in the realms of  magick, practical magickal lore, the more shallow waters of mystical aids to magick, and part of the road to consensus and shared meaning of magickal expression?
Or should I just scoop more Cool Whip on the wizzie Jell-O?
