She'd been chasing after a man. That much Riza knew for certain. She'd rounded the side of the building, coming to a dead end; a dead end, save for a door. It had to have been where he had gone, for there was no way that he would have been able to climb the walls, not unless he was a spider or something. So, Riza had opened the door, and peered into the dark abyss.
Her gun still out, she had narrowed her eyes, doing a sweep of the stairway. Nothing looked out of the ordinary, and no sounds came to her ears. That should have been her first warning, the reason why she should never had started taking those stairs. Had the person run down them, he would have made some noise. Riza had just assumed that he had stopped. He had been injured after all.
As quietly as she could, she descended down into the darkness, the familiar feel of the gun close to her face a welcomed friend. Her breathing had been controlled as she traversed further and further down, starting to wonder if this had been the right idea. Perhaps she should have waited for the back-up to arrive, but they had been a bit behind her. No, Riza knew that the suspect surely would have gotten away by then. Instead, she had continued, spiraling down the stairs, step by step.
There was a fear that arose, a fear that she pushed down. The stairs would end, for it was crazy to think otherwise, right? It's not like this was a never ending stair case like out of some science fiction magazine. Taking a breath, Riza calmed herself, for she was not some school girl fresh out of college. No, she was Riza Hawkeye, working for the State, trained in hand guns. Her worries would soon prove to be false anyway, for Riza could make out the outline of the door ahead of her. Gently, she slipped up next to it, and paused.
She opened it cautiously, unsure of what she would find. After all, the man could have been behind it holding a weapon now, but no. Instead, it was a dark and dingy city that she saw. Where had she stumbled upon? Taking a few steps, Riza left the shelter of the door frame, her mouth dropping open as her eyes flickered across the scenery. Her gun dropped slightly as the blonde haired woman dressed in her blue State uniform stood there.
