As Meyrin walked through the doorway leading from her room to the rest of her apartment, she nearly tripped. Her amethyst-coloured eyes opened and closed a few times, as if to reassure herself of her surrounding.
She was on a long flight of stairs, surrounded by darkness, with no sign of her apartment anywhere in sight. Cautiously looking around, her hand dipped into her jacket pocket and emerged with a slate-gray pistol, flicking off the safety. Slowly, using one hand on the railing to steady her frightened form, she hesitantly descended down the dark stairs, stopping every few steps to check the shadows behind her for danger. Looking over the side of the railing, Meyrin let out a loud gasp which she immediately stifled with her free hand, her eyes looking down upon the city at the base of the stairs. She pulled her head back over the railing, leaning against the wall, panting gently, her mind filled with numerous questions and confusion.
Once again, she began to descend slowly, her pace slowly speeding up as the distance between her and the city diminished, her eyesight spotting the large buildings of the city. Finally, Meyrin reached the bottom of the stairs, her eyes scanning the area around her for danger. Spotting a few figures wandering by, some giving her weird looks, as she quietly shuffled away from the supernatural stairs, her grip tightening upon her gun.
