It was good to be out of the labs once in a while, even if the air outside was closer to the aroma of old, stuffy dust than actual fresh air. Besides, he really did need to stretch his legs and get some exercise; full recovery from two or three or four weeks' worth of starvation was slow in coming.

Nii hummed a nonsensical tune as he walked, pausing occasionally to 'talk' with the stuffed rabbit in his pocket to keep himself amused. The city hadn't changed one bit since all those months ago (more like an eternity ago, his mind supplied) when he first came here. No, the scenery had not changed -- instead, its inhabitants had ( ... )

Somehow he had been sleeping through the entire day, and given his almost healed - but still hurting - gunshot wound, he probably needed it, Fuji had thought when he had woken up. It had been pitch black outside, and hunger had kept gnawing at him, forcing him out of his apartment. As he had opened the front door of the tenement building, he had suddenly found himself just stepping out of a bar instead, and it took him a couple of seconds to realize that no, he wasn't in Kansas anymore ( ... )

Gojyo looked up at the man closer to him. "Who're you?" he mumbled, bringing his hand closer to his chest. He didn't want to deal with other people right now. Unless they were Hakkai. He really just wanted his hand to stop bleeding. Blood was never good. And it hurt. "I hurt my hand," Gojyo said suspiciously, in response to the scientist's question. That should have been obvious, at least.

Gojyo heard the boys words, but they went in one ear and out the other. He really didn't want to deal with other people right now. Especially since...hey. That was new. Gojyo had fallen onto his back due to his continued dizzyness. "Umph!" Gojyo exclaimed as he hit the ground. "Fuck!"

[[OOC: The more the merrier! Gojyo, Nii, Fuji posting order, plx. :D]]

"Yes, I can see that," said Nii, carefully keeping the amusement out of his face. "I was asking how it happened."

Nii took a step to the side, so that he could see both Gojyo and the newcomer - a calm teenager, who was touching his side... why, how odd. An injury perhaps, or cargo inside the shirt? But what would he have to hide or protect? He didn't look like the shy type either, to use that posture. Curious.

"He's injured," he called out to the teen, by way of greeting. The words 'would you like to have a look' were almost out of his lips, but he restrained himself.

It's time to play nice, he silently reminded himself. But it was such a pity to let these opportunities slide by... perhaps he could bother someone else later?

Fuji stepped closer, carefully pulling out a non-used handkerchief from one of his pockets, reluctantly handing it out to the man with the glasses. "Maybe this can help", he asked, taking a seat next to the man with the long hair. "Or do you need something else?"

"I dunno," Gojyo said, in response to Nii's question. "It was fine, and then it was all hurting like this." Gojyo frowned. "I dun like it."

In response to the other boy's question, Gojyo merely shook his head. Or at least tried to, as the effort made his head swim and his eyes fill with tears, an unfortunate side effect of the alcohol. Gojyo grimaced.

"This is fine," Nii replied, taking the handkerchief before kneeling down and taking Gojyo's injured hand. Now, if he was back at the lab, he would have implanted something. But with the circumstances, he'd have to make do with the next best thing.

"I'll return this to you after I have it washed," he said to the boy as he carefully took out the shards of glass embedded on the skin. "We might have to clean this up somewhere..."

The blood quickly spread on the cloth as he dabbed his own handkerchief (he had taken it out from his lab coat earlier) on the wounds first before pocketing it and wrapping Fuji's on the hand. Pity the sample would be somewhat contaminated, but he had little choice now.

"Have a headache too?" he asked Gojyo, noting his behavior as the young man tried to shake his head.

Had the redhair not been injured, Fuji thought, the entire situation would probably have been more amusing, since he didn't seem like the easily angered drunk either.

He nodded mutely in reply to the dark haired man, dismissing it. It was just a handkerchief, if he returned it, he returned it - if not, that was fine as well.

"I might have some painkillers", he suggested quietly.

Gojyo watched as his hand was cleaned and bound for him. Huh. That was awfully convienient, though his hand still stung quite a bit. At the man's question, though, Gojyo merely mumbled, "No." He wasn't entirely sure why he lied, but that might have just been the alcohol speaking.

When the boy mentioned alcohol, however, Gojyo's eyes narrowed. "I don' want yer stinkin' painkillers," he grumbled. "H'kai always tells me ter never take nothing from strangers." He stopped and thought about what he said for a moment. "Sanzo too. He'd prolly hit me if he found out."

"Wise friend you have," Nii said, sitting down on the pavement beside Gojyo. He knew that the redhead was lying earlier about his condition, but he let it pass this time; no doubt, he'd know the cause soon enough.

To hide his smile, Nii took out a packet of cigarettes and put a stick in his mouth. Ah, Kouryuu-kun. It would be an interesting reunion for the two of them if they ever met here, with the game on hold back in Tougenkyou. Perhaps they could start a new one. He already had two or three pawns available, at the very least.

"Hit you? Now why would your friend want to do that?"

Fuji blinked, then mutely sat down on the redhead's other side, deciding not to feel put out by having his offer rejected like that. But really, did he look all that vicious? It was almost amusing, had the redhead apparently not felt so bad.

"That's not very nice", the boy mused, then smiled slowly at the redhead. "Maybe we should be friends as well? Being strangers to each other is never fun, right? I'm Fuji Syuusuke, and I really wish we would have met during other, better, circumstances."

He gave the man with the glasses a quick smile as well, however something about that man felt rather unsettling, he couldn't pin-point what though.

[ooc] Eheheheh. Clearly I fail. =3 This is the right journal~ ♥

"Sanzo always hits me," Gojyo grumbled. "Shoots at me sometimes too. Bastard." He eyed the man's cigarettes hungrily. He had long since run out of smokes on his own, and no amount of plundering had been able to procure a pack of his own.

The boy spoke, and Gojyo was torn out of this thoughts. "Sha Gojyo," he grumbled. He didn't address the other part of Fuji's message, mostly because he still couldn't really register what he was saying.

[[OOC: XD That's okay. I accidentally do that kind of stuff all the time.]]

"Nii Jienyi," he said, nodding at Fuji and offering a stick to Gojyo. "You too, hmm?"

Nicotine withdrawal was a merciless, bitchy master who demanded a lot of things. The experience of this was, at least, one thing he had in common with the kappa.

"And this Sanzo of yours sounds rather abusive. Have you considered, ah, terminating this friendship of yours?"

It sounded like rather sound advice from a professional. In truth, he wanted to know what Gojyo thought about the monk. Hearing a response in person was different from hearing it from a live-feedback connection.

Something about this entire situation made him feel rather out of place. It was as if this Nii guy was speaking something, and meaning something else; hidden meanings all over the place. Maybe he knew Gojyo, but the drunken man didn't remember him?

"Maybe you should wait with the questions until he feels better", the boy suggested mildly. And knows what he's saying, he added silently to himself.

Gojyo took the cigarette gratefully and fumbled around in his pockets for a lighter. This Nii guy couldn't be all that bad. He had given Gojyo a cigarette, after all.

"Tried it," Gojyo said shortly, in response to Nii's question. "Then they all jus' beat me up. Less trouble to just go with it, ya know?"

Nii lit Gojyo's cigarette using a lighter from his lab pocket before lighting his own.

"Do they now," Nii murmured, taking a draft from the cancer stick and exhaling the smoke. "Like they hate you, but not really?"

He remembered this incident from the time when the boy was killed in that toy castle. It was brash of the redhead to fight an enemy in said enemy's territory, but it was foolish of the boy to discount the ikkou's... cameraderie, for the lack of a better word. Such a waste, but then he had already discarded those toys long ago.
