The first thing Sakura noticed was that it was very wet. The second was that she was soaked through and that it was very, very cold. The third was that she was on the roof top of a building that seemed to be partly submerged in water. The fourth thing she noticed was that there were things in the water, and they Did Not Look Friendly.
She swallowed. Right, she told herself, it's not so bad up here. It could be worse. She steeled herself and peered cautiously over the ledge down into the water again. There could be . . . ghosts.
She shivered at the thought of her greatest fear. "Right. No ghosts here!" she told herself sternly, trying desperately to ignore the fact that she wouldn't be able to tell whether it was true or not without Touya's help.
At the thought of her brother though, a wave of homesickness washed over her, and she felt the absence of her family and friends very keenly. She didn't know how long she'd been on the rooftop, but she already missed everyone back at home.
She shook herself then, fighting back tears. she told herself. Everything will be okay! It will! Cheering up slightly with that thought, she repeated her "invincible spell", out loud this time:
"Everything will be okay! I'm sure of it!"
She nodded, feeling her determination returning. She could do this. She'd survived worse, after all. She could survive this, and get back home.
Her hand went to her right hip, fingers brushing the pouch that held her precious cards. Her cards glowed softly at her touch, sending back a pulse of warmth to comfort her. That made her smile. It reminded her that she wasn't alone.
She froze, the thought echoing in the depths of her mind as a memory resurfaced. That was right - she wasn't alone! She'd been with someone right before she got transported to this odd place, though for some reason, she couldn't quite remember who . . .
That didn't matter right now, though. Whoever it was, she'd find them, and then they could start trying to find a way back home. She'd start right away -
She paused and stared out over at the flooded streets, with Clow-knew-what lurking in the dark waters.
Right. She'd start as soon as the water level went down a bit. She stood from her place next to the ledge, and settled near the center of the rooftop instead, just in case whatever was in the water tried to jump at her or something.
Huddling down in her wet coat, she yawned. It had been a long day, and she needed her energy if she wanted to be able to explore a bit the next day.
Her last thought before sleep caught her in its grasp was, Hooooeeeee, it's so cold! A-choo!
