Byakuya and Renji - arrival in the City

Byakuya walked through the door with all of his usual grace, not bothering to thank the boy who had held the door open. He assumed Renji would follow him without being asked to. They had come to that much of an understanding, hadn't they?
He heard Renji's footsteps on the ground behind him just as the door closed.
This was not Soul Society.
He turned back toward the door, but it had apparently disappeared. What a lovely trick that was.
Thorougly unamused, he raised and eyebrow and looked to his Lieutenant for an explanation.
