Let's paint in our hearts the various world we want to capture )
The ankle was starting to feel a bit better; after all, it had been some time since she first tripped. And Koushiro was being...extremely helpful. Which added to Mimi feeling bad about freaking out earlier. It was a characteristic move of hers to be the emotional one, but when dealing with the pineapple-laptop toting one, it left things somewhat awkward.
Instead of babbling incessantly, she remained quiet, concentrating on walking. It was strange, to be so close to Koushiro. He had this aura about him that shouted to keep back at least a step. As they walked together, the pinkette felt a reassuring relief that things were going to be ok. They definitely, definitely would.
But the patience was starting to wear thin. As she was about to ask how much further, the red-head's sudden exclaimation snapped her back to reality.
There was hope.
"Yatta!" She chirped, and moved towards a chair to sit down. Ahhh. That felt good. Mimi dropped her shoes next to her feet, and leaned back.
However, this was the part where her and Koushiro wouldn't speak for another bajillion hours. >_> Ah, the price of freedom...

Well, well, well. Moving several of the computers to his customized 'security room' of sorts on the third floor had its advantages, after all.
Nii's lip curled in amusement as he watched those two from the computer monitor, the black and white video image flickering on occasion. He'd been following their progress since they'd arrived; the girl, he knew, had damaged her ankle in one way or another, and had insisted that the boy not leave her behind, or something like that.
The speaker, damn it to hell, was crackling more than usual today, making it a little harder to listen in on the conversation while avoiding detection from those two.
He steepled his fingers in front of him and looked intently at the video feed, waiting to see what his visitors would do next.

Totally unaware of any impending doom, and more exciting at having found technology of some sort, Koushiro made sure that Mimi was alright before rushing to the nearest computer, checking to see if there was power to it.
The moment of closeness, however confusing to the red-haired genius it was, was quickly brushed aside in his mind, when computers were involved.
Success! It did, it flickered on, but it seemed to have enough power to access what information he could.
And so, the little hacker decided to test what firewalls could exist, to see what information he could receive about this place before he could try to hack into the digital world.

Mimi flipped on a computer herself, at least to keep her occupied while Koushiro...was Koushiro. She typed up a few distress calls, hoping that Miyako-tachi might be able to catch them at home...
Obviously, the pinkette was also completely unaware that they were being watched. She sighed, feeling out of place in the lab. Peeking her head around the monitor, Mimi craned her neck to see what the red-head was up to.
"Well? Does it look like you can bring up a digital gate? Can we get home?" Because, you know, ten seconds is plenty of time to do that sort of thing. The pinkette pulled out her digivice to look at it. Still black. "Do you see any change in yours?"
While Mimi was bothering Koushiro, the keys on the keyboard next to her began to type by themselves. Followed by the lights flashing on and off. A shriek erupted from her lips, and she jumped to her feet. Smart move. Following the shriek was a cry of pain, and she held against the wall for support. "Kou...shi...rou...." Mimi whimpered, and pointed at the computers. "It typed! By itself! And the lights!" Her lip quivered, as she looked around, quite unnerved.
"What if this place is haunted?!"

Nii raised an eyebrow. The little electric bastards were acting up again, it seemed. Maybe he could use that to his advantage...
He looked at the other person on the screen. 'Koushirou', the boy, looked like he knew a lot about computers. Luckily, the one that Nii had wired in to the computer in the security room was not the one that the kid was fiddling around with.
Stretching his limbs, the scientist got up and shuffled to the computer at the other end of his table, turning the television screen in that direction and watching the kids' movements as he waited for his computer to full boot.

Information flew up about the island on screen, flickering among attempts of detecting and destroying any firewalls that might exist. Stretching his reach over the network as far as he could manage, Koushiro frowned a little.
"How strange..." He murmurred, mainly to himself, so absorbed in breaking whatever codes he could find that he temporarily forgot that he wasn't alone.

While Mimi was busy panicking, her counterpart was engrossed in his work. Hm, she was being completely ignored. BIG SURPRISE. What did it take, some sort of emergency?! Oh wait, pretty much. The pinkette let it slide. He WAS, after all, trying to unlock the gate to get them home.
Which is why when the Divermon appeared, it was almost undetected as they phased in as if they were in the world of the dark ocean. The two crept up behind the red-head, who was furiously typing and completely oblivious to his surroundings.
After an attempt to move back towards the computer she had been sitting at, chalking it up to an overactive imagination, Mimi caught a glimpse of the two small digimon, and was caught completely off guard to see them here.
At first, she was relieved. Until she noticed the black rings around their necks, accompanied by the glowing red eyes.
"KOU-CHAN ABUNAI!!!" She shouted, and started to move. The divermon ignored her, and set about throwing a dark ring around the computer geek's neck.

There was a very audible scream through the crackling of the speakers, and Nii jerked his head back to watch the monitor. He did not know whether to laugh or remain bewildered when he saw the new... creatures that seemed to be more suited for aquatic life.
What the hell were they, and what were those dark rings?
((ooc: Not sure if this is possible in RL hacking, but oh well.))

Well, whoever it was would be highly disappointed. Koushiro was an expert at what he did, and certainly he would locate whatever was being hidden from him.
Just a few more clicks and...
Mimi's scream startled him so much that he jerked upright, nearly falling backwards off his chair. How could he have forgotten her? In a flurry, he was on his feet, turning quickly for the door, having abandoned his research to see what the problem was.
"Mimi-san!"
Mimi, from what he saw, was fine.
However, the sudden sensation of something lingering just over his throat made any further words die instantly. His dark eyes widened as a hand gingerly reached upwards, feeling the smooth object that rested there. A moment's hesitation before he gripped at it with both hands and pulled as hard as he could, clenching his teeth with effort. Koushiro could feel panic welling in his throat, tightening and making it harder to breathe.
It wasn't coming off. Why wasn't it coming off?

"Evil...ring..." Mimi realized, covering her mouth with her hands. "Masaka..."
The Digimon Kaizer?! HERE?! But Ichijouji-kun never made evil rings for people...it had to be just a coincidence. But even if it was, certainly that ring was no good. But there was no way it could control people...right?
"Koushiro-kun!" The pinkette's lip trembled, and she aided him in trying to pull it off. It wasn't coming off. WHY WASN'T IT COMING OFF?!
Where were Palmon and Tentomon when they needed them?! Mimi's eyes welled with tears. The ring grew hot under her hands only, but she held on tightly, almost hysterical. Not her friend. Please...not Koushiro...

"Mimi-san.." He spoke after a moment, eyebrows slanting into a concerned expression. "...Please... stop doing that.." Gently, he reached up and grabbed her desperate hands from around his neck, knowing that it wouldn't do any good to try to pry it off.
Holding her by her wrists, Koushiro met her eyes for a moment, finding it harder to remain calm outwardly with such a simple action.
"It will be alright..." Or so he hoped. He needed to find Taichi. He would know what to do. He let go of her and stepped back to the computer, typing quickly once more.
Mimi might recognize an email being typed up.

It wasn't fair.
When Koushiro met her eyes, tears started streaming down her cheeks. Despite his reassurance that everything would be ok, she couldn't believe it. Without the digimon, how could they get these collars off? Mimi knew of no other way...what if there wasn't one?!
Mimi's eyes trailed off to the side, avoiding his gaze. But that meant her eyes fell on the computer screen. And a certain email.
"Are you..." She began, then looked back to Koushiro, "are you running away?!"
Mimi started to get worked up again and tried to pry her wrists from Koushiro. But that was about to prove to be unsuccessful. Because a video popped up on one of the computers before them. Of you guessed it. The Digimon Kaizer.
I'm in a bad mood today. So I want you. To hurt her. And toss her to that unsavory blonde. Then report to my base.
The picture phased out, and Mimi looked to Koushiro. There's no way. NO WAY the rings could be powerful enough to make him hurt her...
"Koushiro-kun..."

Nii finished entering the codes for one last program before turning his attention to the television screen. The girl seemed desperate to get that black collar off, and the boy seemed resigned. Now why was that?
No doubt, he'd find out in a few minutes. Provided that he didn't hunt down the third kid who somehow got through his computer networks to send that video. This is the second time this happened without him noticing it, and his programming wasn't that sloppy --
...second?
Nii checked his computer for the network's registry, knowing that the girl's tendency to be vocal would alert him to any changes in that room. He frowned, seeing that there were absolutely no traces of hacking. Not then, and not now.
This was an interesting problem. He'd have to transfer all his records to paper and delete the electronic copies if he didn't want anyone knowing of his experiments' exact procedures. Nii scratched his head and went over this week's checklist. No, all done.
Tomorrow was a busy day, it seemed.

His eyes widened, forcing himself a step backwards. The feeling of his body reacting to things beyond his control was overwhelming, and he clenched his eyes shut in trying to fight it. In doing so, he released his grip on Mimi's wrists and gripped at the sides of his head.
"Mimi-san... please... run.." He struggled out through his teeth, before his eyes opened again, now glowing bright red.

As Koushiro stepped back, Mimi stepped forward, her concern for her friend being far greater than the concern for herself. Even if that was a foolish move.
Koushiro looked like he was in pain. Did the evil rings hurt? Could Ichijouji-kun send pain through them? Mimi had no idea, but the thought made her blood boil.
At his insistence that she run, the pinkette cried out, "I won't just leave you! Koushiro-kun..."
When he looked up, and his eyes were glowing red like the digimon's always did, a gasp escaped her lips. But even if she was about to get injured...she couldn't just willingly run from her friend. Besides, she couldn't believe that even under control Koushiro would ever harm her...Mimi couldn't wrap her brain around that concept.
