L stood as he usually did; slouched over, long hands stuffed in his jean pockets, his unruly head of jet-black hair bent down, while his attentive eyes stared ahead. And that's how he stayed for a minute, just staring ahead, his mind swimming while his entire body stood still.
Then, he fell backwards.
His limbs extended, he let out a strained moaned as he stretched as far as he could. There were some kinks, cricks, and cracks, and then he relaxed.
"Let's review," he said aloud, and sat up in his other generic position: knees bent towards him, arms folded on top of them, toes curled over the greasy curb of the sidewalk he suddenly found himself on.
"First, I proved that Light Yagame is Kira," he continued to himself, seemingly unaware of his surroundings. His mind raced through recent events, and his brow furrowed as he remembered the spiral staircase.
After a moment, his stomach grumbled. He looked around, and a thin frown strained his lips.
"So, if I died, what am I doing here?" L lifted his gaze and surveyed the situation. It was dark, with just a pale light slipping through the slim crack of the horizon. He appeared to be in a rather grim city, with shady dark buildings and hardly any light radiating from the street lights. He looked ahead, and found himself just a couple of feet away from a rather imposing building. It seemed to be a church, but he couldn't imagine feeling any more uncomfortable around a church than he felt right now. It seemed almost...sinister.
"Could this be Hell?"
He felt his stomach growl again, and suddenly had the most urgent craving for a slice of chocolate cake. "I wonder what the probability of finding cake in Hell is."
