Was it a mirror in front of her, or was she just seeing things?
Or was it really she standing in front of herself?
It didn’t make any sense to her. Haine closed her eyes for a moment, hoping that when she opens them, that person will disappear. But no, there she was, smirking at Haine.
Right now it occurred to Haine: no, it wasn’t she. It was she back from the times she was a member of a gang.
It was Haine without dreams.
It was Haine without friends.
It was Haine without hope.
Seeing her confusion and fear, the other Haine just smiled. "Oh, don’t tell me you’re afraid of me. After all, I’m you, and you’re me."
No.
"Mao-chan told you, didn’t he? You joined the yanki group again."
No.
The other Haine giggled. "You don’t have to believe me if you don’t want to. But it won’t change anything. You’re just fooling yourself…"
"NO!" This time, Haine shouted. Seeing her desperation, the other Haine’s smile widened.
"Very well then." she said, pulling out a small object. "If you don’t want to admit joining the yanki group, then how about joining us instead?"
Haine’s heart beat faster as she realized that the object her other self was holding was a dagger. "Us?" she asked, trying her best to remain calm.
"The Church." Haine’s other self moved closer to the girl. "So? What’s your answer?"
Haine swallowed hard. "No." she answered, trying to sound convincing.
"No? What a pity. We could help you fulfill your dreams…" She whispered the last sentence. "But, as I said before, I am you. I know you won’t change your mind… At least not now."
Haine didn’t even had time to shout; she felt cold metal cutting through her body and saw blood splitting around. She looked down only to find the dragger sticking out of her chest. The other Haine smiled and slowly walked away.
And then everything went dark.
