Guy's brows furrowed, and he leaned back on his heels, hand lifting to rub at his forehead. "I wish I could tell you. I know I spent a few days in the church, but now that I look back on it, my memories of that time are so fuzzy. Did I lose those memories when their influence on me disappeared? I remember talking to people, but I don't recall their faces or half of what they said. Come to think of it, I don't remember most of what I said to them, either."

He lowered his hand, looking a little frustrated by his mixed-up memories. "What I do remember is that they have one goal right now: to get everyone involved in the church, no matter what. That's probably why only church members have it so much easier here - food, health, shelter... I'm sure there will be more to come. They're trying to back everyone into a corner and make it seem like the church is the only answer." He closed his eyes. "I don't know why, but it seems like they want... everyone's souls."

And even now he barely even understood what that really meant. He certainly didn't feel any different.
