"They have the right to destroy. And since they've been destroying the earth, isn't it her right to retaliate?" There was a cold gleam in his eye as he looked over the boy in the white trench coat. Not that he was that much more intimidating, nor was he trying to be. It was merely the look he tended to give everyone.
As Subaru's eyes turned to the ground, Fuuma mused, "has your instinct as a dragon of heaven kicked in? Are you willing to protect this boy at all costs? I'm sure that might create a conflict of interest."
Was that a challenge being issued from Fuuma's mouth? Or perhaps a test for the new member of the dragons of earth? She was certainly not the newest, but still had to prove herself to him, with others in the process of joining the ranks. Either way, it was seeming like a fight was unavoidable. It might have been fate being cruel or perhaps it was merely bad luck on the heaven's side.

Maora swallowed, then struggled to get up again, only to find his face meeting the dirt once more. What was going on here? This man had appeared, out of nowhere, and now Ema-chan was here and not looking like herself. Had she been ill? Hurt? Captive this whole time? The brunette's stomach churned with the possibilities...what if this man had harmed her? Done...that to her, brainwashed her...?
And what if Maora was next?
"Ema-chan..." Maora called again, still trying to wiggle out of Fuuma's grasp, obviously having no idea who he was or what kind of trouble the brunette had gotten dragged into. There was a half-laugh as the treasurer said, "Kimihiro-kun and I...didn't know where you went after the masquerade...we've been trying to find you...and have been worried..."
Maora had no idea that he was the reason that Ema had run off in the first place.

Ema quietly listened to the conversation between Subaru and Kamui, looking at each speaker in turn as if waiting for a cue to act. She struggled to remain as stoic as she could manage. 'Everyone deserves the right to destroy their life as they see fit'? Quite frankly, Subaru was full of shit. It's not their own lives people destroy, its the lives of others. Ema herself was living proof.
However, it was Kamui that finally gave the needed prompt to action. The challenge was issued to Subaru, but Ema caught the implication for herself; she was going to have to fight for the right to punish Maora. Ema looked back at Subaru, her eyes hard.
The figure under Kamui's foot addressed her again, and Ema turned her attention as he spoke of searching and worry. Kimihiro-kun... so Yuko's assistant had gotten involved? No matter, really. He wasn't there now, and was therefore irrelevant.
Completely ignoring Maora's appeal, Ema spoke shortly, coldly. "What's your real name? And don't you dare lie."

If that meant that he had to go through the other Kamui to do so, then so be it.
He looked up again, his gaze turning cold. The challenge had been issued and he wasn't going to turn back now. He still had too much to fight for at this point.
"They have," he replied sharply. "And if that creates a conflict, then so be it. He has as much right to live as you or I, even if your disciple here doesn't believe so."

"As for the right to live, things work a little differently here. You'll find that instead of places, there are people standing in our way. It makes it a lot easier to find and destroy than leveling entire regions. Which would you rather have? Kill a handful to save the earth...or the mass deaths that result from when your kekkai fail?"
He couldn't call the sword here. Perhaps it had something to do with Kamui. Or that witch. But he had enough power otherwise to end this fight quickly.
[[ooc: not really. I love Subaru too much to do anything major to him >_< lol]]

Maora really had no clue what was going on. Who were these people, and what the hell were they talking about? On any other day, when the brunette's life WASN'T in danger, he would have listened intently to put the clues together, and gone nosing around to gather more information. However, it wasn't of his concern right now. What was more important was that Ema-chan was for the most part currently safe, no matter how angry or cold she looked.
At Ema's question, Maora blinked up at her and repeated, "My real...? You mean my birth name?" Unsure as to why that was so important, Maora responded as best he could with someone standing on his back, "...Ichinomiya Yoshitaka. Papa and my friends call me Maora."
Fuuma had stepped off the treasurer, and Maora quickly got up, and moved closer to Ema, "I don't understand, Ema-chan...what's going on?!"

There was nothing to stop her now.
"What's going on is that you lied," she spat, glaring openly at the brunette with cold eyes. "You lied about who you were and what you wanted with me. You lied about wanting to help me trust and be my friend. You just wanted someone to fill your time until the people you actually wanted arrived." Ema closed the distance between them, all the while never breaking eye contact. "You do realize that users and liars deserve to be punished, don't you? In the absence of others who have done me wrong, you have a lot of sins to pay for: yours, Matt Engarde's, Chief Gant's..."
If Lana had seen her little sister like this, she probably would have dropped dead from shock and panic.
Probably best that Lana wasn't there, then.

"I'd rather fail in protecting people than simply sacrifice a few for easy satisfaction. It would be easier to kill to cause change, but I can't do it. I am not that kind of person."
Or at least I don't think that I am.
