Who: Ky Kiske and Vergil What: Just your friendly neighborhood sparring match. :D Where: In front of the Staircase, for now. When: After this exchange. Rating: PG-13... for now? Open: Not at the moment, no.
Vergil stood at the base of that stairs, scanning the area around him half-heartedly. The longer he stuck around this place, the more he grew bored with it. For as ominous as the place seemed at his arrival, it didn't deliver. For the most part he was bored senseless.
'Is that why I accepted a spar with a complete stranger? Am I really that desperate for excitement that I am willing to fight someone I have never met?'
He shook his head to clear it; there was no sense in over analyzing it now. The deal had been made and he intended to keep his end of it.
No time for doubts anymore. There was already someone waiting there, and Ky hoped it was the right person. He started to slow down his approach, not wanting to startle the other man.
"Excuse me," he said as soon as he was close enough. "Are you... the man who agreed to spar?"
It was such an awkward question, but he really didn't know how else to ask.
Vergil eyed the newcomer wearily; he still wasn't sure what to make of this situation. 'He doesn't seem like too much of a threat, but, then again, looks can be deceiving. This might turn out to be a good fight after all.'
"If you are the one who is looking for someone to sharpen your skills on, then yes."
"That is me, yes." Ky relaxed a little in relief. "Thank you for agreeing to come out here."
Something about this man seemed a little unnerving. He certainly seemed like someone who could fight well. And he did seem to have a sort of class, instead of just being a brute. (The thought of which brought up the image of another certain other who he always fought with, but he quickly dispelled it.) Still, he couldn't shake the feeling.
"My name is Ky Kiske," he said politely. "It's nice to meet you, sir."
Vergil smiled a little at the newcomer. Ky was, at nothing else, cordial and punctual. This fight was going to be a far cry from the ones he was used to having with his brother.
Whether Vergil meant it or not, his smile made Ky feel much more at ease. He nodded in acknowledgement and gave a small smile of his own.
That took care of introductions. Ky took a look around to note their surroundings. Now that he thought about it, they were at a pretty good distance from anyone. Not too close to the neighborhood or the warehouses. And unless someone came down the stairs, it wasn't likely that someone would stumble on them unknowingly. At least, that's what he hoped.
"Would you like to find a different area to spar? Or do you think this place would be all right?" Ky asked. It would be worth getting a second opinion.
Vergil scanned the area, looking for anything or anyone that could impede their fight. As far as he could see, it looked like they were alone; that would make things easier on them. They were less likely to run into any interruptions or wanderer here. If they went anywhere else, the odds were better that they would be an intrusion on their fighting, especially someone they didn't want to get involved.
"No, I think this will suffice. It seems we are alone and, with any luck, it will stay that way."
"In that case..." Ky took a step back from Vergil and unsheathed his sword from his side. It felt good to have it in his hand, ready. A small spark of lightning flitted down the blade and down to the ground. It made Ky grip the hilt a little tighter; he didn't want to use any of the lightning against Vergil, especially since he didn't know if the man could handle it. He didn't want any unnecessary injuries to happen.
Vergil watched the other man draw, catching the small spark that danced along the blade's edge. That kind of reaction from a blade sent a cold bolt down his spine. There was only one blade that he had ever seen that had that ability. And that blade was still in the hands of his brother.
He drew his own sword with his normal unhuman speed.
The sword was familiar. Or, to be more specific, the type of sword was familiar. Ky remembered the sky bandit, Johnny, and his ability to flick the blade in rapid succession. Ky also remembered how painful it was when he was on the receiving end of one of the one of those attacks. Just seeing how Vergil drew his blade made him think of the quick move. Was Vergil's fighting technique the same?
Ky went into his fighting stance, his sword arm raised high. He paused, giving Vergil time to prepare himself, before giving a test swipe.
Vergil blocked the blow easily. He knew this would only be a trial run, a test of the waters. It was a good assessment of what was to come though. He swung his blade around, dislodging Ky's blade.
Vergil blocked to two blows easily and retalliated. His blows were far from gentle, but still a far cry from what he was used to fighting with. He didn't want to hurt the other man. Not yet at least.
Vergil's power was reassuring, making Ky feel more comfortable in using more strength. He blocked Vergil's move, expecting it, and returned with another quick swipe. He changed up a little, quickly ducking down and taking another swing at Vergil's feet.
Before the blow could land, Vergil was airborne. He landed easily behind Ky. He pressed the edge of his blade against Ky's neck. It wasn't deep enough to draw blood, but it was hard enough to make a point.
'Is that why I accepted a spar with a complete stranger? Am I really that desperate for excitement that I am willing to fight someone I have never met?'
He shook his head to clear it; there was no sense in over analyzing it now. The deal had been made and he intended to keep his end of it.
Now all he needed was a sparring partner.

This would shape up to be a good fight yet.

"Nice try."

"You're quick," he said. There was no malice behind the words; Ky was already fairly impressed by what little he saw.
He rolled off to the side opposite where Vergil's blade was. Getting up quickly, he decided to wait to see if Vergil would make a move.
[[OOC:Er, sorry if it seems really awkward. I've never done a fight scene before.]]
