Ky was actually unprepared for the Bishop's arrival. He was sitting, resting, on the raggedy couch when the knock on his door startled him. He slowly got up, suspicious of the noise, until he heard the voice calling.
"I am, Bishop." Ky made his way over to the door and opened it. To be honest, he didn't think he would be visited this soon. When his eyes set on the man, Ky quickly understood why the Bishop came over so quickly. He looked worn down.
"Please come in," he said. He stepped aside to let his guest in. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you face-to-face."
It took a moment for Hazel to respond. When Ky opened the door, he didn't quite expect to be seeing someone... shiny. It must have been the blond hair distracting him. He blinked and finally spoke back, "ah... well, I'm glad to finally see you in person." He gave a kind smile as he took off his hat and gave a polite bow. "Thank you for inviting me over."
"It was no problem," Ky replied. He closed the door, making sure it was secure, before turning back to Hazel. "I'm afraid I haven't gotten anything ready yet, but please make yourself at home while I set the water boiling."
The man certainly needed something to eat, and Ky would give him just that. He walked over to his tiny kitchen, took a somewhat decent pot from the counter, and filled it with water. He couldn't help but frown at the quality of the water, but it should be fine after boiling.
"I hope you didn't run into any difficulties on your way here," Ky said after making sure the stove was heating up. If it wasn't, it was easily remedied; Ky had learned how to misuse the Fuuraiken to quickstart any appliance here. (His only problem was how much lightening to use. It resulted in a few misadventures.) He placed the pot on the stove and looked back over to wherever Hazel was.
[ooc: Sorry for the late reply XD; I had to attend to some work.]
"Ah, no. There were no difficulties at all, monsieur," Hazel smiled. He looked around the shabby apartment. He was rather pleased that it was at least tidy and it didn't smell bad. Taking a seat, he noticed some black marks behind some appliances.
"Monsieur, how come there seems to be some burn marks around here?" Hazel looked up at Ky with big blue inquiring eyes. He seemed to suspect them to be the doing of some sort of evil or whatever devious force this world could deal.
Burn marks? Ky took a quick look at where there might be such marks... and immediately winced. Those burn marks, of course. Evidence of his misadventures with fragile, electric-dependent appliances. He didn't think they were so noticable, especially since he was the only one living here, but they were probably quite obvious to anyone else.
He gave Hazel a sheepish look. "It's nothing to be so concerned about, Bishop. I was... trying to restart some of the equipment here and ended up overdoing it."
He did consider telling a little fib, but the thought quickly disappeared. After all, how could he lie to a Bishop?
[[OOC: OMGSDHFDSJDFSLKFS o_o I thought I replied a long time ago! Ack! I didn't! A million apologies!! AAAAAAACK!!]]
"Aaaaand... how exactly did you restart the equipment?" Hazel blinked at Ky. Apparently, he couldn't quite fathom how he could restart equipment and leave burn marks doing it. But anyway, a spasm of pain ran through him, reminding him of his hunger. Unfortunately that spasm was a bit too strong and made the Bishop roll around on the couch, clutching his stomach and whimpering.
Ky stirred around the noodles that he put in the pot; they'd be ready soon. Meanwhile, he thought of how to answer Hazel's question. To Ky's ever growing embarassment, the bishop just kept on asking about the appliances. But it was only proper for him to answer, and so Ky would.
"Do you remember the lightning sword I mentioned? I tried to use that, but miscalculated the amount of energy to use."
His explanation was quickly forgotten when Hazel rolled around in pain. Ky went over to check on him.
"Are you all right?" he asked, concerned. "The noodles are ready, I'll set them out."
With that, he quickly went about getting bowls and pouring the food in. Wincing a little from when some of the ht soup splashed on him, he tried to do it as fast as he could. He brought out some forks and spoons to eat with, and then everything was ready.
He went back to Hazel to help the man up if needed. "This way, sir."
Hazel got up, a little dizzy from the pain, but rather recovered from it, nonetheless. "Thank you very much, monsieur." And with that said, he slowly walked to where the food was set just to prevent any unwanted pain. As soon as he sat down to eat, he folded his hands in prayer despite his longing for the food and looked up at Ky. "Monsieur, do you say grace before meals?"
"Sometimes I do," Ky replied. Saying grace before meals was a very traditional thing, something Ky at times forgot during his busy workdays. He was always thankful for what he had, though. For the peace that had finally come to their world and for the smiling people who now graced the streets.
But... those words. The ones that came from that damned look-alike robot. 'The war never really ended.' What if those words were really true?
Ky brought himself out of his thoughts with a blink. This wasn't the time for this. He had a hungry guest.
"If you could, Bishop," Ky offered, "would you like to do the honors?"
"In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti," Hazel made the sign of the cross then clasped his pristine-gloved hands together and bowed his head, a perfect image of a pious man as he recited the prayer: "Benedic, Domine, nos et haec tua dona quae de tua largitate sumus sumpturi per Christum Dominum nostrum. Amen." He signed himself once again and unfolded from his praying position. Smiling, he took a fork and smiled to the man across him.
"Bon appetit, monsieur."
*Yez, here, Hazel uses the Latin variations of the sign of the cross and the grace before meals. I thought it would be more fitting for him to use them than the English versions since in the manga/anime, his chants are supposedly in Latin. Not to mention that his real nationality is still kinda questionable to me.
Ky also signed himself once Hazel finished. He picked up his own fork and smiled back.
"Merci," he replied. Hopefully, it was cooked all right. As simple as instant meals were supposed to be, he didn't always resort to it when he was at home. Well, as long as the Bishop was able to get some food it would probably be fine.
He didn't say much, not wanting to interrupt Hazel's eating.
Despite his hunger, Hazel remained a refined well-cultured gentleman while eating the noodles. He did not slurp nor spill anything and wiped his mouth daintily with a clean white handkerchief from time to time. And just as well, he would comment to Ky his appreciation for the food no matter how simple it was.
Ky smiled and nodded as Hazel ate and, occasionally, commented. He was glad that he was able to help the bishop, even if it was with a meal as meager as this.
Soon, Ky was finished with his noodles and was quietly drinking his soup. To be honest, Ky hadn't eaten in a while either and this was the fullest meal he'd had in days.
He sighed, feeling relieved, for once since being brought to this damned place.
"I feel... much happier now, monsieur," Hazel beamed at Ky. It has been quite a long while since he was able to spend time with anyone. It was perfect: a good meal and good company. "How are you?"
"I'm all right," Ky answered. He smiled back at Hazel, happy to see the other man well. "Things could definitely be better, but things could also be worse. I'm grateful that we're all managing to find a way to come by."
