So, Friday we got a SNOW DAY. Only, it didn't snow, just rained, and then froze. We had lots of ice on the outside of the house and lots of people on the inside of the house. I pretended to be domesticated and made awesome beef and barley soup and not so awesome potato bread that was more potato than bread.
Yesterday, it was 73 degrees and we had a picnic at the Arboretum. It was gorgeous and perfect and I so needed to be outside someplace without cement. As we were getting ready to leave, I saw a robin.
When you live up north, seeing a robin means Spring is on the way. When you live where I live, seeing a robin means it's about to get really, really cold. Sure enough, I woke up this morning to find we were under a Winter storm warning. But I didn't mind because they were predicting snow. Snow! Real snow, deep enough to measure! The kids were beside themselves. So beside themselves that it was like I had twice as many kids.
But then, because I was looking forward to snow, and I am a jinx, they changed the forecast. So it looks like we will be having another SNOW DAY, only without any snow. We won't have a final decision until tomorrow morning most likely (and by the way, thanks so much for the 5:00 a.m. phone call Friday, HISD. Really, you shouldn't have. I mean it.) but I'm already predicting potato bread round two.
