haven't posted much lately soooo here goes:

Ride Report: 2 weekends ago and Sauvie Island TT
I'm suprised I didn't post anything about my weekend ride weekend before last (like 3 weeks ago...). It was INSANE; There were like 50 riders with the 19mph group when we took off; I ended up riding with the group who were all secretly hammer heads and we just SPED up and down the hills; by the time we got to Dairy Creek (a long mostly flat out and back for ~8 miles) we were going like 22-25mph. Ouch. I ended up getting dropped on the out-and-back, and rode back by myself the short cut back. Boy was I happy about that, by that time any tiny little incline made the lactic acid scream thru my quads. I'm pretty amazed that I stayed up with this group for like 3 hours, it was completely crazy!

Last weekend I went out and tried to do a time trial on Sauvie Island to simulate an olympic-distance triathlon bike leg. Firstly I had to stop like 3 times to adjust my seat; secondly the head wind (Which I swear was coming from all directions) was putting a damper on my speed. I just kept at it, trying to keep my cadence around 90 (although my bike-o-meter doesn't give me a readout on my RPMs so I have to count 1-2-3 1-2-3 for every second). Yeah, my average pace was something like 17.8mph, and my time was 1h23 minutes or something ridiculous. I would like to race around 20-21mph, finishing around an hour. So I have a LOT of work to do. And did I mention that on BOTH of these weekends the SUN was out and it was GLORIOUS!

And while I'm on the subject of biking, I am redesigning the Portland Velo website, which should be fun. A few of us met last week and drank and spoke SUPER NERD (yeah, not only bike-nerd speak, but computer-nerd speak. Like servers and shit. I thought I was going to piss my pants).

My poor aching muscles...
Last saturday I broke down and got a 1 hour long sports/deep tissue massage. There were at least like 40 knots she had to work out, it was PAINFUL, so deliciously painful. Thankfully I wasn't really sore the next day like I thought I would be. I could really get addicted to those!

Last night I went to a physical therapy place for a foam roller clinic put on with the Portland Tri club...if you have any knots in your muscles (who doesn't?), then you need a foam roller. It rules in every way; you just roll around on a cylinder of hard foam and work the knots out yourself; its pretty awesome. I've been using one for a little while, but I wanted to learn a bit more about it...mmmm foam roller.

Everything not related to training
I swear there are other things going on my life...um....yes, on Wednesday I went to the first flash group meeting of a forum I occasionally look at; it was fun nerding out with some flash people. One of the guys there wrote the Flash Bible...literally. heh.

So yes, in summary, I'm a huge nerd.
