I've gotten into the unfortunate habit of posting everyday stuff to facebook only (not that I'm *terribly* voluble there either), and then putting here only the things that I feel I can't say more publicly, even in vaguebook form. Which results in a weird, dark, and cryptic LJ presence. So. What's the ups with me?
I've been freaking out re: thespian's health care travails. Also trying to help out, but honestly spending more energy on the freaking out part than the helping part. Efficiency! (The full story isn't mine to tell, but basically the medical system keeps sending her home, saying "you're not sick enough for home health care", and then taking her back into the hospital after almost killing her. She keeps refusing to be killed, most recently Monday/Tuesday of last week.)
I've turned a corner in my recovery from shoulder surgery. My range of motion is more than "normal", and nearly back to my own personal baseline. Most motions do not cause pain, and what pain I do elicit is minor. My PT and I agree that my strength is back to where it was before the surgery, and it's improving quickly. Still not ready to get back on the mat, but this is all enormously encouraging.
I have a bookbinding project that I'm working on (a sequel to the marathon railway-magazines project).
I haven't been doing what needs doing for the job search. Daunted.
February is over. Good riddance.
I'm heading up communications for Arisia (which covers social media, web, email, both among staff and to attendees). Anyone who's interested in helping with some area of that, or who wants to give me feedback about what we have done or suggestions about what we should do in those areas, please get in touch! It's early days, so far I have someone heading up the staff wiki but that's about it. Also I believe we're still looking for a head of publications (which would cover our paper publications [souvenir book, pocket program, family-friendly and restaurant guides, newsletter] and probably also the electronic versions of those things (konopas, guidebook) and the sign shop).
Bear is working at Skyhook, which does wifi-based mapping stuff; he seems pretty happy there, and his recent job review was really positive. So yay.
Snert has survived her first semester of high school. It's harder than middle school, and the transition has been a bit bumpy. She's doing a lot of stuff with the anime club and the GSA, and getting really ambitious with cosplays. She's amazing, in case you hadn't noticed recently.
