THE GAME: Bete Noire is a medium-sized, plot-heavy, sex and mature content game set in an escapable and flexible jamjar.
METAPLOT: We do have a metaplot completely dependent on player action and choice, and the setting of the city allows for a wide range of player plots, ideal for characters who like conducting long-term plans, or players who'd like to influence the setting.
PROSE: We're both first and third-person, probably about 60% logs and 40% network posts/action threads.
PLOT: The contents of the community is probably about 2/3 player plot/metaplot, encompassing everything from serial killers to Alcoholics Anonymous to alien invasions to demon possessions to opening sex shops.
MATURE CONTENT: The remaining 1/3 is smut/relationships. A note, and a warning: in the city, characters tend to get drawn towards the sin of their choice, not necessarily sex. In fact, many people don't play for smut at all. However, the OOC atmosphere is very adult, and people who are uncomfortable talking about sexual topics should probably not app.
Currently, live-action dominates, but we treasure our animanga and video games, and we'd love to see more of them! We also accept OCs, fandom OCs and AUs of characters. Additionally, we will accept duplicates of characters, from demonstrably different AUs.
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER: Our Spike and Faith would love Buffy, Giles, Angel, Xander, Spike, Ethan, Willow, Anya, Jenny, or literally anyone else.
CARNIVALE: Our lone Ben Hawkins would love canonmates!
DC COMICS: We have Batman, The Joker, The Riddler, Jonathan Crane and Tim Drake. They would love any and all castmates, especially Harley Quinn, anyone from the Bat family, or Harvey Dent/Two-Face.
D.GRAY-MAN: We've got Tyki Mikk. We'd love anyone else.
DOCTOR WHO / TORCHWOOD: The Rani, Ianto Jones, Jack Harkness, The Fifth Doctor and Ileana de Santos are interested in other members of the Torchwood team, the Master, etc.
DOLLHOUSE: Claire Saunders and Laurence Dominic (and fandom OC Benjamin/Delta) would like aaaaaaaanyone but most especially Alpha, Topher or DeWitt.
EUREKA: Jack Carter is in the game, and would love castmates!
FIREFLY/SERENITY: Inara Serra, Jayne Cobb, River Tam and Simon Tam seek any shipmates who would like to join them.
GABRIEL KNIGHT MYSTERY: Our Gabriel Knight would love castmates.
GENE RODDENBERRY'S ANDROMEDA: We have a Beka, and she is very lonely without her castmates. Tyr or Dylan would be great for added hijinks/hilarity, anyone at all would be amazing.
HARRY POTTER: Our cast consists of Evan Rosier, Lily Potter, Oliver Wood, Percy Weasley, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and AU!Remus. They would love any other witches and wizards!
HELLBLAZER: We have a John Constantine. He'd love any castmates.
HELLSING: We have Jan Valentine, a genderswapped Jana Valentine, and Seras Victoria.
HEROES: We have Adam Monroe and Gabriel Gray.
HOUSE: We've got Gregory House.
IRON MAN: Tony Stark seeks Pepper, Rhodes, or Stane for heroic plots.
JUSTIFIED: We've got Raylan Givens and Boyd Crowder.
LIFE ON MARS: Annie Cartwright would like fellow cops.
MARVEL: We've got Daimon Hellstrom and Wanda Maximoff.
THE MENTALIST: We've got Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon.
NCIS: We have a Gibbs, Abby and a female AU Ari Haswari. Any and all castmates would be welcome.
POKEMON: We've got an AU Dragon Master Lance.
RAVENOUS: We've got a Captain John Boyd. Is there anyone ever who RPs from this?
SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI: We have Jin from Persona 3 and Naoto from Persona 4. Naoto would love a Dojima, Adachi, or any of the Investigation Team (especially Kanji or Chie), and characters from other SMT franchises are welcome, especially from Devil Summoner.
STARGATE: We have Daniel Jackson, Dr. Frasier and Ba'al from SG1 (who would like a Jack O'Neill, a Sam Carter, a Teal'c, or anyone else) and we have David Telford, Everett Young, Eli Wallace, Tamara Johanson, Nicholas Rush, and an AU Nicki Rush from SGU, who would likewise love any castmates. Stargate: Atlantis crewmembers similarly welcome!
STAR TREK: We have Malcolm Reed and mirrorverse T'Pol from Enterprise and James Kirk from the Original Series, plus Pasha Checkov from XI.
SUPERNATURAL: We currently have a *lot* of Supernatural characters, to the point where you should probably just check the Taken list.
TRUE BLOOD: Our Sookie Stackhouse seeks Eric Northman or Sam Merlotte or anyone else, really.
