I've been pretty MIA, save for little posts here and there.
My office moved to Rockville, which is great for them and horrible for me. My commute went from 15 minutes to nearly and hour. I do get to use gotomypc.com and work from home sometimes, but still. I also have A LOT more responsibility and not any more money. I have been holding interviews for a part time office assistant, which has been kinda fun (though at this moment I am annoyed because my 10am interview was a no show). The office is beautiful. I should take and post pictures, we did a great job and it is amazing.
Um... my birthday... I'm 30 now. WTF. Had the most amazing birthday weekend of my life. Friday the 31st (the actual birthday) was the last pack day for my office, so after a lond hard day of manual labor I went over to Bar Louie in Chinatown. I really like doing the "this is where I'm going to be if you want to hang" birthday. It's so low stress, and the crowd is super random and fun. Had a shit ton of people show up from all walks of my circles...Then after 4 martinis, we headed upstairs to see the Harry Potter film. I was tired and a little drunk and slept through it.
Anyone want to go see it with me on Tuesday night?
Then on Saturday I had to work the move again, met the movers at the old office to make sure they got everything on the truck. Then I went to Jon's ex girlfriends wedding.
Sunday was Jon's surprise day for me. And it was ALL amazing. We woke up and he brought me to Old Town for a couples massage. Afterwards we had brunch overlooking the water. We went back to his house for his weekly Sunday poker night, but instead it was a surprise rock band birthday party! Twas so fun!
Had a fantabulous weekend.
Left work early on Friday, sat on the couch and played
Fallout. You can thank my boyfriend for getting me hooked, and
madhatternalice for having the game and thus proliferating the hook... The game is addictive because I live in and know DC, is it's really fun and scary to wander around a post fallout version of the city. I also like that while there are quests with timelines... it's pretty free form in the way you play the game. I have two going (one at Jon's house and one at home) that are completely different. Did I mention it's scary though? Super scary sometimes, and I am a HUGE wuss.
After couch potato-ing for a while, I hit the gym and did a whole hour on the elliptical. No shower STILL* so I went to my LiveArt meeting a little sweaty, but we were super productive and I am feeling good about my Scene 5 rewriting project. Next month or thereabouts we will work on Scene 6 and then we will have Act 1 drafted, which is kinda amazing. Went to a super chill party at my friends house and learned just how bad
madhatternalice and Jon draw. Then headed home with Jon for some rockband.
Saturday, after a lovely catchup brunch with
barrygrib , Jon and I spent all day playing Fallout, because we are dorks, and then went to a party at Kenneth's house. It was nice and the food was lovely. Then home for a rockband party of our own. Had a super fun turnout. Was great to see
king_nerd!
I was smart and didn't frink too much, so I wasn't hungover on Sunday. Had a failed attempt to meet up with some of Jon's friends and then got ready for Poker night. Watched some Aqua Team Hunger Force (which makes me raise my eyebrow) and went to bed.
This week Jon is in Tennessee a lot, he's got town hall meetings and tea baggers. So I plan to clean house, catch up with friends and yes, play some more video games... Then I leave on Friday for Daytona Beach, FL where I will FINALLY meet Jon's father.
Yes. Things are going really well.
*NO SHOWER
About two weeks ago, maybe more, we had a major plumbing catastrophe. The ceiling in the Living room was leaking water and the plumber tore a hole in it, then they had to break about 4 bathroom tiles and cut a hole in my bedroom to get to the pipes... Last week the contractor FINALLY fixed the hole in the ceiling (though it looks like crap) and put some tiles in, but never finished. i.e. they didn't grout it OR put the faucets and spicket back on. So... there's been no usable shower at my house since Thursday morning. That is RIDICULOUS.
