Once again, I was unable to get on the midnight flight. It was not, however, due to any lack of effort from airline personnel. One woman was pushing and pushing to get authorization for one more travel packet so that I could get on the flight. Everyone's seen me because I've been here for two days now, and they're trying as hard as they can to get me home, even during Spring Break.
I'm once again on standby for the 6AM and Noon flights for tomorrow, but I was confirmed for the next midnight flight. While 24 hours is a long time to spend in an airport with no toothpaste, deodorant, shower or company, especially when I've already been here for 36 hours, just knowing that my time here will most definitely end is a relief.
Day 3 will be easier to face because I know there will not be a Day 4. With that knowledge, I will now retreat to the waiting area to catch a few hours of shuteye before I try for 3248239843rd time to catch a standby seat. Continental > American Airlines, at least here at PDX.
Texas friends, I will be home soon.
