Well, I got to have some fun shopping for work clothes today. :) I don't get to shop for new clothes for myself often, so when I do it's a nice treat.
According to the
EF dress code, I have to bring my own khaki trousers or skirts, dark socks, and black or brown work shoes. I have the socks already, but I had zero pairs of khaki pants, having worked at Target for too long to feel like wearing them at all anymore after I quit. I also had one pair of brown shoes, but they aren't necessarily the most practical or comfortable for everyday work, and I will be walking a lot when I live in China, so I wanted to get a nice quality pair of shoes that would be reliable and comfortable.
Here's what I ended up with:
Black leather Hush Puppies, super comfy, professional and hopefully with lasting quality.
Two pairs of Gap wide leg trousers in camel. I really like these pants, and they actually had them in the shorter length that I needed. They're still just a teensy bit long, but with the bit of a heel that the loafers have, they will be perfect.
One Merona light khaki pencil skirt with a short slit in the back and pockets. It's cute and will be nice for warmer days. :)
And another Merona khaki skirt... this one is more of a medium khaki color, though the picture would have you believe it's a light khaki. This one has more of a woven look the fabric, is just slightly shorter than the previous skirt, and has no slit in the back. Should be nice to have two different (albeit very slightly different) skirts to choose from. :)
I think I might want to buy at least one more pair of khaki pants, but I didn't want to buy more than two of the same pair, since that seemed a little silly, and I probably want another slightly different kind of pair to choose from. I am really happy with what I have so far, though, and I feel pretty set for my move - I've even sold my bookcase today! It's really the last piece of furniture I was trying to sell. I may sell the little table I had sitting next to my bed, but it's not that great and I may just donate it, we'll see. So, yay!
