Well,
elsh might get the joke in the subject line...
Anyway, yes, I got my visa. :D
I went in this morning early, at like 8:20 or so, and there was already a line outside the consulate. They open at 9. Glad I knew to get there early. I went in with my paperwork and was missing just one form, but it was no biggie, the lady just gave me the form to fill out and I filled out and that was that.
But what annoyed me was that they didn't need my physical examination papers after all. And here my recruiter was convinced I'd have to get a physical exam and all. Ugh. It cost $250 to get that thing done, as well as my time and discomfort. I sure as hell better get that $250 reimbursed, as they promised.
Anyway, I left the consulate at about 9:30 with this:
It looks like she wrote my name in Chinese? :)
I came back at 2:00 and the process was very easy and quick to wait in line, get a number, pay and get my visa:
At first I was worried about the number of days it says I can stay in the country: 000. But I looked up this issue online and people say it just says that because you have to apply for a residence permit within 30 days of entering the country, and it's your residence permit that allows you to stay for a year. *whew*
I got my visa! This means it's definitely happening. Eek! I called my landlord today and told him I am definitely moving out, leaving on September 14th.
Oh, did I tell you guys? Yeah, I'm supposed to be in China on September 15th. I haven't booked my flight yet, but I probably will this evening. My recruiter has given me a tentative arrival date of September 15th, and it's what I put on my visa and everything... and she mentioned this date more than once, so I'm most likely going to be getting there on the 15th of Sept. Crazy. I have like three weeks left here and that's it.
I've started going through some things I know I need to get rid of regardless, and I sold some college textbooks and some other random books back to SF State's textbook buy back thing yesterday (even though I never went to SF State - ha!) and I got $143. Pretty damn good, if you ask me. That pretty much paid for my visa. I plan on attempting more of this with more books I decide I don't want this week.
Gah, so much crap to go through and things to do before I move!
