More inspiration

Well, I returned home today from CORE Dance Collective's free dance classes extremely humbled but also satisfied.

I feel like I am learning and growing so much in my dance abilities right now! We did a lot of improvisation and contact improv, and it was both new to me and very comfortable at the same time. I have a lot of experience in partnering, and blues dancing gives me some of the connection skills I need... so I jumped right in there and just did whatever I was inspired to do. There were so many dancers there, and a lot of them were so amazing to watch... it made me feel so privileged to be able to be there and dancing with them, for free. I got some really great compliments from people, though, which surprised me because I do have such little experience in this kind of stuff... and it really made me feel good because these people don't even know me at all. It was great working with dancers who I hadn't even met before, doing contact work and playing off one another's moves... it felt so organic and real, more than almost any other dancing experience I've had.

This makes me uber-excited for my dance improvisation class starting in the spring at CSUS, and even more excited about the two pieces I will be performing in with the Senior Dance Concert. I feel surprised at how much growing I've been doing as a dancer lately, and it continually surprises me when people compliment me... I don't see myself dancing from the outside of myself, so I can't tell at all what they are seeing, and it doesn't feel like I'm as good as they say.

Anywho, I should do some studying before going to blues dancing tonight. My favourite blues lead will be there tonight, yay!

yay, inspiration, blues dancing, dance
