Performing again!
I got chosen for two dance pieces in the Senior Dance Concert!! :D YAY!
I don't know a lot about them yet, but I have e-mailed both of the choreographers and asked what styles of dance we will be doing, and one of them sent me this e-mail back:
What the idea is (for now, could change) to do a piece that has modern movement but enhance the movement with pointe shoes and some movement that can be done in pointe shoes (hence the reason I asked for people who can do pointe). I am not looking for stellar pointe technique, but there needs to be enough to do some possible challenging movement in them.
I am sure that the idea could change by the time the first weeks of school roll around, but for now that is the plan.
SO excited. I have missed doing pointe and have been wanting to get back into it since I started again last semester, but couldn't fit any ballet classes into my schedule this semester. And this sounds like a really fun piece, since it will be a modern piece using pointe. :D Can't wait to get started!
One problem that I figured out right away was that I have a class that goes until 5:45 PM on Tuesdays, but the rehearsal time for the piece I was just talking about is supposed to be Tuesdays from 5-8 PM. I e-mailed the choreographer about it, though, and she acted like the rehearsal time isn't set in stone, and there may be an additional alternate time set up in the future if she can get the dance space during another time slot. She said she'd let me know, and that maybe I could just come late to the rehearsals... so I think it should work out. I hope there's some other time I can come or that the rehearsal gets moved later or something.
The other piece I'm cast in, I have a bit of an idea what style it will be because I asked my dance teacher about the choreographer and she said she has seen him do some fun modern stuff and such. She said she thinks I'll like both the dances I am cast in and that I'll do well. :) This dance gives me a choice of rehearsal times, which is nice, so I can come in on Tuesdays from 5-7 PM (which won't happen because of my class) or on Fridays from 5-7 PM (which works out perfectly). :)
